My 1970 Chevy Camaro was taken to 5 star engine repair for an engine overall, Chris the manager stated that the total repair would cost just under 2428.00. I got a signed invoice which both I and Chris agreed and signed. I put down 1500.00 in cash, a week and half later I was called by 5 star engines and told that I owned a substantial amount beyond what we agreed and signed and what i already paid this clown a deposit for, When I asked why I was placed on hold for over 20 minutes than another worker came on the line and told me Chris would call me back? When Chris did call me back he said he has to replace the exhaust manifold as when his shop employee was putting it back on he said he was trying to tighten it and it broke in half? Next he stated to me that I needed another air filter, in fact this shop over inflated everything on the invoice, to begin with and was trying to rip me off. Chris cursed at me, when I asked him why his shop never called me to get prior authorization; he also insulted me for being in the military. I told him I would only pay what we agreed upon based upon what I signed and he by the way signed on a legal printed document which was the shop invoice for repair. He then blocked my vehicle with his own truck; I told him I was going to the Glendale Police department which is only 2 blocks away on 59th ave. The police came and examined the same document and basically told him he couldn't keep my car and I was only obligated to pay what we both agreed to. Chris than stated that car wasn't drivable after I paid the shop 2500.00 this even made the officer curious come to find out he tampered with the coolant hoses and the electric fan module as so to make the car over heat. This shop has ripped me off and I have reported it to the police, I will submit all documentation along with all reports to back this claim so others in the phoenix area don't get ripped off by five star engines. Their customer service clearly lacks and they use inferior parts while price gouging their customers.
Chris the manager is a theif and a liar, do not take your car to this shop as he inflates the cost and tells you after you have signed the invoice that he had to replace extra parts? When in fact there was nothing wrong with in the parts in the first place. This place is a complete nightmare, I have never heard of a business being able to jack up a price without your prior knowledge and or approval.
This place is disgusting and there work is far inferior than getting a crate from a reputable business. Think twice before you take your american classic muscle car to cris he and his dads' shop are thieves and liars! 56th and glendale, they will sell you a rotted out core paint it organge charge you big time money only for you to have to get it repaired right some place else..
