Company sold us a car which is faulty then told us basically to get lost

The problem is with Excellent cars in Sheffield, this sale was for a Renault megane convertible and was purchased around May 20th for 4300 which we paid cash, there was a couple of problems which needed sorting before we purchased the car one being the fact that the rear drivers side window did not go down, which is a must for a convertible, this they said had been repaired with a new part and we took the car some time later.

A few days later the said window would not go down or do anything else and we wondered if it had been fixed at all, however, we contacted excellent cars and he agreed, after some persuading, to come and collect the car and repair it, by this time the other rear window on the passenger side was now faulty as well.

They collected the car and kept it for 2 solid weeks, enough time to do the repairs you might think, they left us a small car by the way but was to nasty to bother with, so, it came back after 2 weeks and when I went out to it, guess what, the window on the drivers side didnt work, so I rang excellent cars immediately while the delivery driver was here, I was told that it needed to reset, so I tried it again, it worked but then would not go up now, the delivery driver was told to come away with the small car and leave the faulty car with us, I complained that surely the megane should go back to be
repaired once again, getting ridiculous isnt it.

This didnt happen we are stuck with the car still, we have taken the car to a local auto electrical technician who told us that the window had not received a new part they lied to us, the owners of excellent cars have told us to get the work done, at a cost of 300 and he will send us a 150 cheque, we are convinced he will not do this by his mannerism on the phone.

The owner Steve has now decided to keep putting the phone down on us, he has told us that he will not pick the car up and repair it or give us a refund or a replacement which we are apparently entitled to under the consumer law, ie a free repair, a free replacement like for like or a full refund.

In fact he has become very nasty and told us to stop phoning or go and see a solicitor, basically to get lost.

We are stuck with a faulty car (faulty goods) that leaks and the seller is telling us to go to hell basically.

We are going to send a recorded letter as advised by the consumer helpline and then, as I am sure they will not even reply, pay to take them to court, however this should not be happening in this day and age of consumer protection laws which dont seem to have any real power even today.
