I have been an American Express customer since 1982. Last year I became a platinum card holder because up till then I felt that when I had a complaint they would listen and do something about it.in the past year I haven't got the service I am used to, I've tried to cancel the platinum card for weeks now and go Gold because I don't want to lose my points and they kept me waiting, then connected me to someone in the Phillipines and then she connected me to someone that could help me but I couldn't wait any longer. I am a very good customer and wanted some of the high interest charges waived because of circumstances which they refused to do. There is no other card I own that charges so much money for keeping it and on top of that the 450 yearly to be a holder. I inevitably pay the balance of the card on a regular basis and I still get these horrendous interest charges which they don't tell you about upfront. I'd like this to get into the hands of someone at AMEX that is interested in reading this. They will lose a lot more than they'd gain when they lose customers like me and I see from others comments that has indeed happened. Its gone from being a highly customer service oriented business to the extreme opposite with people that are unable and unequipped to help. Yet if you're late a month they are on you like butterflies to flowers. Go figure. They certainly have lots more money than I can dream about.
