I purchased a used vehicle from a reputable Dealer in my area in March of 1999. Shortly after I got the vehicle, I received several offers for extended warranty coverage through the mail. I bought one from Premier Warranty Group of Oklahoma City, OK. Everything was fine until I noticed a problem with the automatic transmission shifting properly. I contacted the dealer and made an appointment to have it checked. There was a Fifty dollar fee to check it out. I paid the fee only to learn that it was an internal problem. I contacted Premier Warranty Group, and they said that I would have to agree to cover the tear down fee so that the cause of failure could be determined. I had the transmission torn down and learned that the Torque Converter had failed, there was damage to a pump, seal, shaft and bushing. The dealer contacted Premier Warranty Group and faxed them a copy of the estimate. The warranty company called me and said that they had determined that the cause of failure was "normal wear and tear" and that my claim had been denied. I am facing an$1800.00 bill for repair of a transmission that is covered under a worthless extended warranty.
Let this serve as a word to the wise, DONT BUY A SERVICE CONTRACT THROUGH THE MAIL.
