LMD Autobody and Repair
Sold us a defective car and then did not repair it as promised

I purchased a used vehicle (on 2/17) from LMD Autobody and Repair (a business in Gresham, Oregon). They had purchase the auto at auction. The price I paid was $2,200 It was advertised as having a replaced head and head gasket and a timing belt. 5 days after purchase the engine quit working. After paying for a tow (at our expense) to another shop, we learned from the original repairs (as listed above) was either not done correctly or not done at all. There were also missing bolts from the tension belt.

The owner of the company (Shane Ballard) became angry (and verbally abusive) when asked about the repairs, and yet he agreed to fix the car at a minimal cost. I had been told by other shops that it would take anywhere from $2,500 to $5,000 to repair. LMD promised the repairs would be no more then $250 and had an employee tow the car to their Gresham shop. This was on March 3rd. It had sat at for nearly 10 days before it was towed.

I had driven the car less than a week before the break down. Two days later (March 5th) we were told the car was ready and we picked it up on March 6th after agreeing to pay $182.50 in repairs. We paid with a post-dated check (3/9). Less than two days later (Thursday March 8), the engine began knocking and it was apparent the car was not drive-able. I called the Shane at LMD and he said it was his birthday, and that he couldn't get to it or have it picked it up until Monday (3/20). I put a stop payment on the post-dated check and had the vehicle towed to his shop at my own expense. (March 8th)

When I arrived at the shop, I apologized for the stop payment (even though the check was still not illegible to be cashed) and offered to write another check. Shane became verbally abusive, and told us to "get the hell out of" his shop that he
was through with the car. He became aggressive. I felt threatened and left.

This morning the owner prior to Shane told me the car had piston damage when he gave it Salvation army. Shane never made this issue known to us at anytime.
