Beware of Buying Used Cars From These People, Terrible Customer Service

I purchased a 2008 BMW 535i and an extended warranty from Norm Reeves Honda Superstore on January 15. Within six weeks the brakes started squeaking (a week after I bought it), the battery died (three weeks after I bought it) and now 2 solenoids, the oil filter housing and front control arm bushings need to be replaced to the tune of $2000.00. So you say, Well, didnt you call Norm Reeves and tell them what happened?! Yes. I did. They checked the brakes and told me there was nothing they could do to stop the squeaking basically stating I had to live with it or fix it on my own. The battery they actually replaced but I had to live without my car for 4 work days (they did give me a rental). When the Engine Malfunction light came on at six weeks old (solenoids, etc.), I was basically told I was on my own and not even the extended warranty would help me with this expensive fix. Through this entire ordeal I had many questions; trying to find out why it wasnt covered or why, when the car was still so new to me, I was responsible for such exceedingly expensive repairs. None of my messages were actually returned. I had to call until I got a live person on the phone, then was shuffled from this person to that person, on hold over and over, wasting hours of my time at work.

I write this review, not to trash Norm Reeves (after all, they were great when actually selling the car), but to warn future consumers that if you buy a used car from Norm Reeves, you should have it checked out by your own mechanic first (something I completely regret not having done). Their inspection of previously owned vehicles they take in for trades is woefully lacking something (in fact, I think it's just lip service—I think the previous owner knew about these defects and unloaded it for something else so it could become my problem later.) Also, the 5/5 warranty provided by Honda and the extended warranty provided by Century Services are also completely worthless for such costly repairs. Having to do it again, I would have purchased my own warranty elsewhere or going somewhere else to get a car.

To sum up, Norm Reeves did offer to take the car back in trade but told me I could not recoup the taxes and fees and basically my deposit of $3000 would have been eaten up by the depreciation of the car. So Im left to do these repairs on my own and in the meantime (until I can afford to fix them), I am borrowing a friend's car as I cannot drive the car Norm Reeves sold me. Its been a valuable lesson and I hope if you choose to buy a used car from them (especially if its not a Honda), youll take extra precautions. Because after you buy a car from Norm Reeves, they leave you high and dry. Customer Service is nowhere to be found.
