I have owned a 2003 Honda Pilot since new. I have 75,000 miles on it so the 3/36 warranty is long gone. We recently started having trans problems and I took it to Norm Reeves Honda in Cerritos, or I should say my wife did. She did her best to explaint he problem but she is not tech at all. We were having a 2-3 shift thunk. Well they found a broken front engine mount and I agreed that this could be the source of here problem so I told them to replace it. That was on Friday. Got it back the same day and I got a chance to drive it over the weekend, still the same problem. I took it back myself today (Tuesday) and had the tech ride with me and we immediately were able to identify the problem, as I suspected and feared a bad trans. I got with John my service writer and got the bad news. Close to $4,000 to replace the trans... But he said to let him see what he could do, he would call me in a couple hours.
Well I was half holding my breath, mostly not. I have never had a dealership really work on my behalf. Well as promised John called me in a couple hours. He had gotten American Honda to pick up the cost of a NEW transmission, $300 expidited shipping and he was even going to credit me the $250 labor that I had paid to R&R the motor mount. My bill that was close to $4,000 was now under $1,000.
I was blown away. It has been YEARS since I had any dealership really work on my behalf and I can say that I have never had a manufacturer step up the the plate like this. I have owned Euro and American cars prior to the Honda.
All I can say is thanks John at Norm Reeves in Cerritos, thanks Norm Reeves Honda and thanks American Honda. You stand behind your product big time.
