I contacted Lamonte Brown at his place of business called Sun Blockers. I had an issue with a water pump, Pulley & timing belt. He quoted me a price & told me that I would have my car back at the end of the business day. I asked if he was a certified Mechanic & if his staff was as well. He assured me that he was & his staff was as well. I dropped my car off on monday the 16th at 1:30pm & was told that my car would be ready no later then 6:00pm at the time of closing.
After the dust cleared & numerous excuses by Mr Brown three days had passed. I then realized I was scammed. I notified the police once I realized I was dealing with some thuggs & swindlers. They Instructed me to try & obtain the car and if I needed help they would come along but ultimately could not do anything due to it being a civil matter. I contacted Mr. Brown on third day Wed. The 18th after speaking to police & stated I wanted my car back otherwise I would involve the authorities. He proceeded to make up even more excuses as to why he did not have the car ready & to give him more time. I said no. He then told me I would not get the car back without paying him for the job, which in no way did he even come close finishing.in fact I had to contact another Mechanic to tow the vehicle because the car was not even close to operating function. I am outraged at the whole encounter with Sun Blockers & there strong arming tactics. My Vehicle was completely drivable when I brought it to them other then a slight leak. They returned the car to me completely undrivable.
The Actual work involved in changing a water pump & timing belt is 4 1/2 hours not three days. Three days in which I had to come home from work early two of those days & completely miss a whole day costing me hundreds of dollars. When my new mechanic recieved the car he looked over the vehicle & realized that the timing belt that they removed, they had in fact installed it wrong! This could have lead to a permanent mechanical failure causing irriversable damage, if I would have even started the engine. This business & so call business man should be held accountable for these actions & the public should be made aware of this horrible situation to make sure this not happens again. Eric T
