Motorists Insurance Group Provided sub par service to a motorist their client hit

My vehicle was damaged by a person insured by Motorists Mutual. The issues I am experiencing are not directed at the person that did the damage or the shop that repaired it, only Motorists Mutual.

(STRIKE 1) This insurance company took 2 days to contact me after the accident. The first call came from Francis Codon Insurance Agency but identified himself as (Motorists Mutual) who simply called to ask my name, phone # and vehicle information then told me to wait for a call right back. A day later a woman calls from a blocked # and asks me for the same exact information and again tells me to wait for a call right back. About 3 hours later a different woman calls me from an unblocked # and asks the same exact information and tells me to wait for a call right back. This process was so unprofessional, I questioned if it was a legit insurance company. So I called Motorists Mutual headquarters to verify they are a real company and that a real claim has been established. They were able to assure me this was the case and finally gave me a claim # and scheduled an adjuster to come out and assess the damage.

(STRIKE 2) The adjuster was very nice but an hour late showing up for the appointment. She assessed the damage and printed out a copy of the claim and estimate. I thought this was a good thing until I was informed that they are simply cutting me a check and its up to me to find a shop that can do the work for that amount. Their insured hit me, 5 days later I am standing in the cold with a paper that tells me how much I can spend to fix my car and to wait on a check in the mail. As it turns out, she low balled the estimate by $250 but the shop was nice enough to wait for Motorists Mutual to pay them the difference.

(STRIKE 3) I drop my vehicle off to the repair shop and I get the keys to the rental car. First off, I own and drive a full size luxury sports sedan and use it for business travel and clients. The car Motorists Mutual gave me was a sub-compact vehicle in which the rental company informed me was the cheapest rental car available. It was so tiny and cheap it didnt even have a center console, just seats. I felt very insulted and the first thing I could think of is that I can't believe this is how they treat people who have had vehicles damaged by their clients. Not good for their reputation, thats for sure.

In summary:
1. My car is damaged at their clients fault
2. I had to do leg work in making sure a claim was filed and legit
3. I had to do leg work in finding a shop that could do the work for their named price
4. Even though they cut me a check, I had to pay the bill so the liability to pay was on me
5. I had to drive what the rental company said is "THE CHEAPEST RENTAL CAR AVAILABLE"
6. The body shop did a good job but my car will never be like it was from the factory

I feel violated.

The way upstanding insurance companies handle things;
1.insurance company provides Same/next day response to an incident
2.insurance company provides a list of approved shops to drop off the damaged vehicle
3.insurance company provides a rental COMPARABLE to the vehicle damaged in the incident
4.insurance company handles the expenses with the shop NOT THE VICTIM

I will NEVER be a Motorists Mutual customer and I pray I NEVER have to deal with them again! I will share the same advice with everyone in my networkSTAY AWAY FROM MOTORISTS MUTUAL!
