Fradulent quoting and charging for items to be replaced when not needed

Took my 92 prelude in to their shop because it had a rough idle and coughing upon acceleration. Dropped it off at 9:00 am.

They told me they would give me a call by the end of the day and let me know what they found out. End of the day no call, stayed at work until 6:00 at night and I had to call them and was told they had to get to it the next day.

Next day called in at 11:00 and they said the tech that looked at it was out and they couldn't read his notes. No call back by the day.

Third day called in and they were able to tell me that I needed a new 0xygen sensor and catalytic converter and that was why it was running rough. I agreed to the charges of $1300.00 for those items. However within fifteen minutes I looked at my receipts from the previous year and noticed I had replaced the Oxygen sensor 10 months prior. I called in and told them I would pick up the car. They complained that they had taken the catalytic converter off and were sending it off. However I told them I didn't want them fixing it.

I picked up the car and paid their $200.00 to look at it and tell me what was causing the coughing and low idle. When I picked it up, the brilliant front desk person said "oh you are picking up the prelude that is falling apart?" "I think I can find your Oxygen sensor that fell apart during removal." He had no clue what was done or not done.

I took the car to Bucky's in Midway, they replaced the converter for 250.00. But that did not fix the original problem. I took it to a certified state emissions mechanic. He tested the car's Oxygen sensor and it worked perfectly. He finally discovered that the car had one bad spark plug. He charged me $90.00 to fix. Drove away with no problems.

If I had gone through Firestone it would have cost 12-1300.00 and it still didn't fix the problem. I am sure I would have been over 1600.00 by the end.instead two other shops fixed it with the charge of 350.00 total.

Are you kidding me firestone, poor communication, poor employee communications and poor diagnostics. What do they do well? Tires I hope.

One of the worst experiences I've had, and I was flexible and didn't even complain that they kept the car three days because they couldn't find their own tech.
