Paul Miller Audi
Bad service from paul mille

12/20
My oil light came on and immediately pulled the car off to the side of the road. I call Bernardsville Audi who is local to me and I use regularly and asked him if there were any recalls or problems with the motors in the A 4s. He said there is a camshaft recall and the car should get towed to the closest dealer. So I opted to tow it to Paul Miller and the car actually came there for service a few times anyway.

We spoke to Orlando, explained what happened and gave him 4 contact phone numbers. After a week of no communication, I called and spoke to Orlando. He seemed like he was lost and had no idea why the car was there and what was wrong. I then explained the whole situation again. He said he tried to call 2 times and left a message, although cell phone showed other wise. He said he would check it out and not go over 2 hours in labor with out calling me. This was a Monday and he said he would have it checked out and estimate by Wednesday. No call so I called on Friday and he said the cam journals were so worn due to sludge build up that it would need a new cylinder head to fix it. He had no price and said he would estimate it out and call me on Monday. Monday came and went, on Tuesday I called his manager Ken and asked him why is he jerking me around and to get involved. I explained the situation to him and also my concern that the real problem was never addressed of the no oil pressure that made the light come on and possible ruined the head. When I addressed that with Orlando, his answer was "There is a one year guarantee on our work, so if the head goes again, it would be covered". That is the most uneducated answer I have ever heard and Ken Boyd agreed with me on that as I spoke to him of his answer..

As I spoke to Ken, we both agreed based on the technicians findings, that the cam JOURNALS were worn and heavy sludge was found in the engine it would be best to replace the motor as an assemble... Which they dont do, so it would have to go to another shop for that.

The car was towed to another shop after it was at Paul Miller for a month, the shop never opened the hood, based on Paul Millers findings, found a used motor with low miles and started to put it in. On swapping parts over from one motor to another, it was found that the cam carrier, that needs to be removed to view the journals, was never removed. The cam lobes were perfect and the cam not to be seized into the head as Orlando said it was. On digging deeper to find very little sludge and a clogged oil pump screen. THATS ALL THAT WAS WRONG WITH MOTOR...
When I spoke to Ken on this, he was very defensive and he is sticking up for a technician that took the lazy way out and a service adviser that really doesn't now how a car works. He quoted out a head price and did not even address the no oil pressure problem until I questioned it.

The last thing Ken said when as we called back to tell him our findings was: "make sure you spell my name right when you write blogs on the Internet about us "
I hope I got it right Ken.
You and your service department should be ashamed of themselves!
