I would like to introduce myself, my name is Bob. I am a former Just Brakes employee. I was employed almost two years as a manager. The only reason I did not leave sooner is the store I was employed as the manager at had a great crew, and we did not treat any one any different than I would treat my own wife. Needless to say, after I quit that store went out of business.
The company's district manager works out of the 43rd ave and Bell Rd location, his name is Roger. Roger and I had many discussion on why I did not like to suggest rebuilding customer calipers. I was always told every car needs them, they are our biggest profit maker. I am ASE certified so I do understand components do go bad and do require replacment of rebuilding but not every car every time. This company offers training classes to brainwash you in to believing "THE WAY". By the way, that is and actual training class name for them, it is a 2 day class held to increase profit and earnings. It actually should be called the way to rip people off.
This company hires inexperinced unknowledgeable people that get paid between 6.50 - 10.00hr to fix brakes. That excessively cheap labor for something as important as your brakes. But it keeps their profit margins good so the manager could make his 8 percent of toatal sales.
They specialize in using the lowest quality part at the highest price to the customer. They love to sell the rebuild of calipers, but they do not do it correctly in a clean room cleaning out the bore.instead they pay someone to remove the seal and install a new seal and dust boot with dirty hands and just wiping out the bore of the caliper, which should be as clean as possible so not to leave debris where the seal will eventually sit.
The company has very strict guidelines for labor percentages as well as parts cost. Each store has a book that lists the parts on that stores shelf, it also lists the cost of the part and what to sell it at. For example some of the front brake hardware for Chevy pickups cost the store 1.64 (this is fact listed in there book) and sold for 39.99 also listed in there book. I have seen rotors that cost 13.00 dollars sold at 80.00 dollars and above.
In closing I want to warn everyone who will listen do not go to Just brakes they scheme people. I regretfully worked there and I lost a lot of sleep at night not just from working late but from the way we treated people.
Just so everyone knows the worst managers are ED - Bell Rd store, Roger - district manager, Tony - not sure where he is at any more, Stan - Broadway Rd store. Both of Rogers kids Chris and Roger Lee, these are just a few to start. Not all of the managers are dishonest Lee at Baseline and ValVista in Mesa is good - as is Dustin at 90th street in Scottsdale but they are the few.
PLEASE STAY AWAY from anyone else they have no business ethics and are waiting to sell you there four wheel friction reline at 99.88 so they can sell you 400.00 dollars worth f stuff you probably dont need. Do your self a favor don't frequent any of their establishments not even in an emergency have it towed it will be cheaper. Good luck.
