Dave DeMartini owned Northwest Custom Cycle and either he or one of his mechanics rebuilt my HD motor. The connecting/locking pin/ring was left off the wrist pin connecting the piston head to the rod.
I went to Sturgis, and of course it made a lot of noise but did not stop running until we got back. At this point, I put it away for about a year and then tore it down.
Once opened, there was no question that the part was missing-the cylinder sleeve is torn apart from the wrist pin. I have the paperwork, explained the problem to the mechanic on duty and he said they were not responsible. Dave died about a year or so ago. He was a heavy drinker and there were a lot of drugs at the shop. Some said Dave did a lot of coke as well as drink, but I just know about the drinking first-hand. Wife Joanne manages the shop now but has been no help.
That they are not willing to fix what they broke says much for their lack of integrity, honesty and pride in their work. Do not go here. This is not the only case I know of where something seriously went wrong with a rebuild. The latest was only 6 months ago.
