Quality Tire And Service
Goodyear Scamed, Hood Winked, Bamboozled

September 29 I had my car towed to Quality Tires And Service at 1401 N Dallas Ave Lancaster, TX Invoice # 11623 because It wouldn't start, the battery was working just fine. I thought maybe it might be the starter, and just in case that might be the problem, I purchased a starter from O'reilly Auto Parts for $ 89.99 with a core charge of $31.50 and put it in the trunk of my car.

Quality Tire quoted me a charge of $ 59.00 to install if I had my own starter. About and hour after the car was dropped off I was told that the problem was indeed the starter but, the O'reilly starter was no good and that they had to uninstall it, at this point I'm very disappointed, I can't take it back to O'reilly I'm without transportation. So, I told Quality Tire to just go ahead and fix my car, which means they are going to use their parts.

Quality Tire and Service charged me $ 79.49 for labor, 182.46 for parts and $15.05 for tax. I asked why was I charged so much for the starter? They said "thats what NAPA Auto Parts charged us". Later I found out that NAPA charge $89.99 for a starter for my car with a $27.50 core charge, California emission. When I took the O'reilly starter back to O'reilly, they tested it to make sure it was no good before giving my money back. After testing, they found nothing wrong with the starter. I asked the sales person if they had, had a lot of their starters returned because Quality Tire told me that they don't use parts from O'rilley because they had too many customers having break downs after installing O'reilly starters. O'reillly sales person turn his computer screen around and showed me that Quality Tire order starters from them all the time, in fact they purchased three last week.

When I got back into my car to leave Oreilly it wouldn't start. I went back into the store and informed the sales person that tested the returned starter of my dilemma, he went out to my car raised the hood, looked at the supposedly newly installed starter and found that it was a O'reilly starter and not a NAPA Auto Part it was O'reilly part number. He then looked inside my car under the clutch and found out why my car wouldn't start. It was a connection problem. He did something under the clutch and had me to try starting the car without putting my foot on the clutch, I started the car on the first try. He handed me a little small part and said " I'll call Quality Tire and tell them that you are on your way back over there, give them this." which was a little small screw like part that was broken.

When I walked in the door at Quality Tire and handed the little small part to Roger and said" this is why my car wouldn't start". For reasons that I didn't understand at the time, he was very irate with me, when I handed him the small part he took it and throw it on the counter and told me to never come back to his shop again for repairs, he said that I ask too many questions and that I acted like I didn't trust him. When I asked to have my old starter back so that I could have it tested. He lied and said that it had a core charge of $75.00 and he would not give it to me. He made me so nervous, all I could think of was getting out of his shop. I ask him as calmly as I could if he would please replace the part that was need so that I could start my car. After he put the part on I ask how much it cost and he said it was "just a screw" and I said $ 277.00 for just a screw. I started my car and went home knowing that I had been hood winked and bamboozled I want my money back.
