My 2000 Chevy Blazer was not starting. So our first thought was tot ake the starter out and have it tested. It tested good, so we took it to Pickerings Auto Service Center to have them diagnose the problem. A day later we got a call from Pickerings and they said the starter was bad. We explained that we had the starter tested and it was good, so the owner Randy said well we will change the starter because it is bad now and test it further and call you back.
The next day we got a call saying the car was fixed. This is wierd because they never called us back about testing it further. We went to pick it up and they brought the car around. The bill was $650 for a starter. This was for labor, the part and the diagnosis fee. Well it look us about ten minutes to get the starter out when we took i out and about ten minutes to put it back in. The part only costs $150 and the diagnostic fee was $100. That means we paid $400 for a twenty minute job. This is the the worst part though.
We drove the car home fine, but when we got home and turned it off and tried to start it again, it wouldn't start right away. It took a few times to start.By the next day the car wouldn't start at all. So we paid $650 and it wouldn't start. We called the owner and it took him a few days to call back, which shows how much he cares about his customers. When we talked to him he said bring it back in, BUT it will cost another $100 to diagnose it. We reminded him about the coversation we had when he called to say it was the starter. (We told him that it had to be more then the starter and he agredd t diagnose it further.) He was very reluctant to diagnose it again for free, but he agreed due to that converstaion.
Another problem with this company was when they called to tell us it was fixed the first time, they told us it was $550 when we got there to pay they told us $650. That is a huge difference. We brought this up to the owner and he said he would look into it. (Yeah right).
We took my car in for the free diagnosis and they told us it was the fuel pump and they wanted $1200. That is outrageous since the part onlt costs $350 and it took us about 3 hours to change it ourselves. They should have known the feul pump was bad the first time we brought the car in, so this just shows they did not do a good job of testing the car.
This company does the least amount of work for the most amount of money. The owner tried to explain why his prices were so high and he said well I have bills to pay too. This is not a reson the charge customers ridiculous amounts of money. I would not recommend this aout repair company to anyone!!!
