I called Start Mart yesterday for a quote on the cost of an alternator, I was told it would be $110. I had my car towed to them, and when I got there I was told that the actual price would be ($50-$100) more than what I was quoted. My total bill ended up being $100 more.
I was able to get my car home, however before I left the shop, I asked to have the replacement parts. They told me that they had rebuilt the current alternator, and there were no replacement parts. I found this very suspicious.
They said it has always been their policy to have a base price depending upon obstructions, and that they have been working on cars for years. If they have been working on cars for years, than they should know what type of car you are bringing in, they should be able to quote you a more accurate price. They are magnificent at the bait and switch.
