Reneged on service contract warranty that they sold

April 17,09 we purchased a 2007 Dodge Charger from ER Ford. It had 27, XXX miles on it. I paid I believe about $1300 for a $50,000 mile extended warranty from Galen (sic?) in financing. He specifically said, bring it back in when you hit 77,000 miles and trade it in. What a great buying experience for us! Right?

All was good until last summer in August we noticed we were burning oil. We took it in and they performed an oil consumption test. Ok, whatever. However for them to perform this test, I had to pay them to do a brand new oil change which was $ 20.00 more and took me 3 hours out of my work day. After the oil change, they said if there was a problem, not to worry, because I still had 30,000 (approx) miles left on my extended warranty/service contract that I had purchased. I had also mentioned that my mechanic in Zimmerman told me I had bad tierods and that this was a known problem. Darcy said no problems with my tie rods.

Fast forward to March 21. We had noticed a puddle of tranny fluid while my car had been sitting in the snow and an immediate tranny squeal when driving. My husband popped the hood but lo and behold, they do not include a tranny dipstick, so we have to bring it in. At 7:00 am I called and talked to the lady (shame on me for not getting her name) at the service desk to tell her my husband was enroute to them with my car and that I would need a rental car. She looked me up in the system, said there were no rental cars but that the mechanics would be able to look at it about 12:30pm. Great! I wouldn't possibly need a rental car. As she starts the service ticket I tell her I have a warranty. She pulls it up and says "Yes, until 77, xxx miles." Awesome, that is what I show.

The company gave my husband a ride home. Boy am I feeling great about buying local. When my husband was about 5 miles from home I get a call from Darcy (guy) and he tells me that my warranty expired at 60,000 miles according to thier records. I tell him he's wrong. He says maybe but this is what Chryslers warranty program computer is showing. I said 60? 6-0? He says yes. Conveniently my car just rolled to 61000. Oh and yeah, I need new tierods.

I left work, went home and grabbed my warranty paperwork and my husband and I got back down to them at noon. My warranty papers showed I had purchased a 48 month, 50,000 mile extended warranty/service contract. So we feel confident.

When we get there, we go straight to the finance department. The finance guys are busy so they give us to the sales manager. He looked at my paperwork and at first agreed that yes, this 77, xxx is correct. Then he goes and talks to the guys in finance. After 20 minutes he come back and says no, your warranty is good up to 50,000 miles total on the car. He said our car was automatically covered up to 36 month 36,000 miles when we bought it and that we spent basically $100 per 1000 miles for an extended contract. WHAT??? We explained that this is not what we were told, why does our finance contract show our odometer reading then 50,000 / 48 months? He said this is up to 50,000 miles. I kindly asked him to point out where it says "up to: and he gave me a look that said "duh" and then he really did say it's not in there. OK it if isn't in there then how can you only interpret it so that it is in your favor? Why is it never in the consumer who forked out all this money favor? Again, whatever. I'm so mad that I'm busy blasting them on facebook and getting a ton of responses immediately about "so sorry, we bought from there, never again" and such, but all along the same line.

He did offer to trade our car in for us or to make sure only the necessary repairs ($ 350.00) for the tranny were made. We said we would do the repairs ourselves, and we would trade in our car but not with them! We went to pay for our car (they were topping off our tranny fluid) and it was $92.50 for 1 1/2 qt of tranny fluid. We went and picked our car up from the service bay and Darcy at least looked disgusted with the guys on the inside.

Lesson learned, I was always raised that those that promote religion and Christianity are the biggest hypocrites and I didn't listed. Going forward I will never shop at a company that invites the general public in to pray with them. I might be going south when I die, but at least I know some people that will be there as well.
