Town North Mazda
Scam, Scam, Scam

Run far from this dealership! They are true scammers and they don't care who they victimize. We dealt with Terry Mcelroy, our sales guy, and Alex, his manager. We should have known when they never would give us an upfront total sales price.

We picked a Mazda5 and had it shipped from Austin. When we went to sign our paperwork, the scams really started. When we set down at the finance desk, a vehicle that was supposed to cost around $18,000, now had a total balance of $28,000! They had added on a pricey warranty, GAP coverage, and a charge that they had quoted us of being $750 to $1000 to get our financing was now $1500. I told them no, that I was not going to pay that much and that I had researched dealership scams on the web prior to visiting them and I knew what they were doing. The finance guy called in Lisa, the finance manager, and she fixed it back to $18,500 plus her "fees". Our new total finance charge out the door was 19,185.

Even picking the car up was a fiasco. Terry, our sales guy, called us that morning to say our car would be ready that afternoon around 3pm since they were installing tint. We got to the dealership at 2:45pm and had to wait until almost 5pm to finally even see the car. Apparently there was a scratch on the front fender that he was waiting for the paint guy to come fix. He said that when we came back in about 10 days for our plates, that he would have the paint guy there to fix it and give us our 2nd key to our car since Austin apparently hadn't sent it. Yeah, who buys a brand new car and only gets one key? Now it's been since 01/21 and still no call about our plates, the paint, or my other key.

Wait, it gets better!

A week later on Jan. 29, the calls started. When we originally financed the car, we were waiting on GAP to decide what they were going to pay on our totalled vehicle. They came back and said they weren't paying our $1200 balance. The dealership needed us to come in because the deal had essentially fell through because of this. When they called they wouldn't tell us that, they just said we needed to sign another paper. When we saw Lisa she said that the finance company had denied our loan due the GAP findings. She said that we could either pay the owed amount or we could add it to the new loan. Since we didn't have $1200 just lying around, we added it to the new note. A month later they still have not paid off our loan on the totalled vehicle and the finance company is calling daily. Since the loan is now 30 days past due we have accrued late charges and the total due amount continues to increase from the daily interest charges.

We have called the dealership and they told us it would be in the mail the next day, but still nothing. I'm on my way up there now to have them sign my papers saying that the vehicle will be paid by Tuesday, March 1 and that my key, paint, and plates will be done by the end of the week.

What makes me the maddest and gets my blood boiling is that every time we went in there, we took at least 1 of our 2 kids. The day we had to go sign the "other paper", they had a balloon waiting for my 2 year old daughter. How could they look and see that we are a family that is just trying to make it in these tough times and still scam us? I still remember our sales guy Terry making a comment about coming in on his day off because he had to feed his family, well what about mine?
