Duval Mazda At The Avenues
Read this before you buy ANYTHING from a mazda dealership!

So the fun all began when i had a 2000 volvo s80 t6 i wanted to trade in. Because of the miles i travel for work i needed something with a few less miles on it. (at time of trade in 155,000) so i went down to the mazda dealership to look at a car that i had seen on the internet. The car was very nice it was a 2004 mazda 6i. So after test driving and all that fun stuff i decided that that was the car i wanted. The sticker price on the vehicle was 13,995 but i was able to get the car for just over 11,000 which was just in the price range i was looking for.

First off i was at the dealership from 11 am sunday morning until 9:30 pm that night trying to buy the car (that should have clued me in right there that it was a mistake!) so i go into the finance office and sign all the paperwork, including a piece of paper that says that *the dealer had to legally hold my trade in on the lot for 72 hours and then they could do whatever they wanted with it after that.* i figured no big deal right? WRONG! Because 2 days later the finance guy calls me back and says "hey because you own more than one vehicle our finance company wont finance you so we need a cosigner" (didnt make any sense to me but whatever) so my husband and i go down to resign all the paper work and the guy says oh wait i see he has a vehicle too well he cant cosign until that car is paid off so i have them pay off my husbands car ($3000) and tack the balance onto my new car loan. (at the same time they also snuck in an extra $5000 of b.S. To the total bringing the total amount of the car from $11,000 to over $21,000!!!) then after that the guy comes back and rattles off a bunch of bs which in real terms meant "ok great now that youve paid off a vehicle that has absolutly nothing to do with you in any way, now we dont need a cosigner."

Well at this time i was still willing to just leave the remaining balance of my husbands car on the new loan so i resigned the paperwork again when the finance guy pulles another trick out of his hat and goes oh by the way we are going to need $ 3500 down too (we had previously agreed on $500) so i told him when i got paid the next day i would give them the money. So i left that night and the next day i got another call to come back to the dealership this time they had decided that no matter what kind of money i put down "the finance company would not work with me" so their solution? BUY A NEW CAR! I told them forget it and just give my volvo back and they said it had already been shipped to another country to be chopped up!!!

So i had no choice but to buy a brand new 2007 mazda 6s from them. And upon doing so they up-ed the down payment to $5000 (and they wanted it in a matter of 48 hours) they also said that they didnt believe me about the amount of money i make so they are going to need 2-3 MONTHS OF PAYCHECKS! Photocopied front and back AND a phone call from my boss AND a letter on letterhead stating a whole list of information about me that they had no business knowing! And the best part was that i had 48 hours to produce all of this or they were going to take the car back and leave me stranded since they had already shipped off the other car.

Now at this point i had completely had it with all the crap they were pulling so i decided to put an end to it by seeking my own financing through NFCU when the dealership handed me the paperwork for the new car the total amount on the paperwork was $22,189.68 (which was a fair price to me because the sticker price was $28,995) so i went to navy federal and got out a $22,500 loan and took it to the dealership and they finance guy says " ok so were still on track for the $5000 down pmt."... NO JACKA*!! The TOTAL amount was 22. I then proceded to rip him up one side and down the other about all the things they had put me through and that it WAS illegal and i WOULD be suing them if it wasnt corrected right then and there (come to find out later the finance guy had changed the paperwork to say i owed the retail price of the car!)

So in the end after careful consideration the dealership finally saw it my way and i ended up getting the car at the price originally agreed upon. There is no excuse for what the dealership did it was wrong and it was illegal in more than one aspect. They would get a lot more business if they would just be honest with their customers. To me no car is worth what i went through. Im happy with the car and im very greatful that its all over but i will NEVER buy another vehicle from a big dealership again. I would rather go down to bobs automart and be treated like a person then go to a mazda dealership and be treated like an ignorant piece of s*.

I do want to thank navy federal credit union for their excellent customer service i was provided during this complicated situation. And overall mazda makes good quality vehicles you just have to be careful where you buy one from. I hope if nothing else that just one person can avoid the same situation i got into when their done reading this! But beware everyone in the jacksonville area DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM DUVAL MAZDA OF THE AVENUES!!!

P.S. Their service center is also VERY overpriced and uncompromising with vehicles still under warranty and they will come up with any explination to either not fix the problem or to say its not covered by the warranty and YOU have to pay for it. Just a little insight for anyone thinking about having their vehicle serviced there:)
