I took my car for a State Inspection. My car is in pretty good shape, not too old. I've been taking it to them several times for oil changes, and other repairs. I suprisingly didn't pass inspection due to bad lower ball/joints. They quoted me $700 and that's the only way I could pass inspection. I got a second, and third opinion. Finally, the third opinion said that only one side needed the repair and not both should be replaced, plus, the brakes had been tampered with and they cut the sensor off the brake pads so that when metal to metal came into contact, not only I'd have to replace the pads, but then the discs. I used to trust them, but now, I wouldn't take my car there for anything in the world. They don't get paid on salary, but piece work. Luckily, all i got taken for was the cost of the inspection that I didn't even pass. Low and behold, NYS Law says that I shouldn't have been failed, just for bad ball joints. I will never make that mistake again. And neither will all my friends when I tell them of my bad experience.
