Gary Yeomans Ford
Daytona Auto Mall and GARY YEOMANS engage in trickery, lies, fraud, and unethical sales. Ripoff!

I am a 21 year old sales employee for a major wireless company. Working in sales I have seen some shady tricks pulled by other salespersons in prior jobs, but none as unethical as this! I take much pride in how I am a ethical and honest salesperson, maybe that is why I am a top performer!? Now here is my complaint on GARY YEOMANS FORD (DAYTONA AUTO-MALL) DAYTONA BEACH FLORIDA.

On January 4 my father and stepmother went down to gary yeomans ford to see about possibly trading in my 1995 nissan sentra. My father had recently purchased 2 brand new Ford Mustangs and was pretty much happy with those transactions. Unfortunatley, I had to work that day so I was unable to attend the original sale.

At the end of the day my father had purchased a 2003 Ford Focus lx sedan. Both of our names were to be on the loan. The 1995 Nissan was taken in as trade, and my father delivered the new Focus to my work.

Three days later... I receive a call from my father advising me that the financing fell through and they wanted more money down. I told him it was not worth it, and that I would return the car by the end of that business day. An hour later my stepmother called and advised me that someone from the finance office had called her and told me to keep the car because they were going to add her name to the loan also and that everything should be OK.

Two days later... I called my stepmother and she advised me that the financing still fell through and they basically wanted 3,000 dollars down. I said foregt about it. I would take the car back immediatley and get my 1995 Nissan Sentra back.

Same day... I arrive at Gary Yeomans Ford alone. After waiting 20 minutes the salesman that I had requested finally approached me. I had both keys in my hand to the Focus and the owners manual. "Here you go, where's my car?" I said. Before he even said anything else he said "Hang on I'll be right back"

Another 20 minutes later... He comes back with some other man, I don't remember his title, but right then and there I knew the gaming was beginning. "Your Nissan won't start" he said. "It will crank, but not fire."

I asked, "It won't start all of sudden after sitting in a parking lot for a week? I drive it on the highway nearly 80 miles a day to work and now it breaks down sitting on a lot?"

He then says "Oh don't worry about it we have another car out there running that you can use until Monday" "The shop will be open and then we can look at your nissan on monday"

At this point I knew something shady was going on, I stored out the doors leaving the scammers inside. To see some old beat up Red Ford Focus outside running (which sounded like a lawn mower by the way). They followed me outside.

"What did you do to my car!" I yelled at them.

"Hey you can go try to start it yourself" said the salesman.

"We didn't do anything to your car."

This is the comment that made me sick

"we are trying to be nice and let you use this car while we try to fix your car!"

I left in the Red Focus which smelled like a bar inside of cigarette smoke, and drove down to the Texaco station and called my father from my wirelesss phone. I explained the situation so my father met me back up at the dealership.

We demanded to see my car.indeed it would not start. We looked it over and over to see if anything had been disconnected. It would turn over but would not fire. The engine was getting gas. I told the salesman I was not leaving with that red focus because I knew they would come back with " Your sentra is beyond economic repair, how did you like that red focus we let you drive this weekend? We can get you into that "SORRY WASN'T GOING TO HAPPEN.

I told my dad I wanted my car towed out of that lot and to a mechanic so a independent one could look at it and see what they disconnected and then we could contact legal advice! But it was freezing out that day, so we decided maybe there was something really wrong with the car and told them we would leave it there til monday for them to look at.

I did not take the red focus, I used my dad's mustang. I was not going to play the game they were trying to play. When I kept demanding it be towed out of there the dealer kept insisting they would look at it free of charge and they didnt do anything.

Before we left that day the salesman said "So you don't like the Red car?" Heres what I said "No I don't want that piece of s*it!"

"i want my car back!"

Come Monday, we were all told 3 different things to what was wrong with my car.

1) My dad was told the spark plugs (CRAP!)

2) My stepmom was told the rotor in the distributor (This turned out to be true! But guess why!)

3) Me Oh the cables were bad to the spark plugs

We finally got my car back looking at it that night my father noticed something that he could not believe he had missed!

That day i went to return the new car they had removed the a vital component of the distributor, thus the car would not fire!

Researching on-line here is where I learned to how I was scammed:

They pulled the "financing did not go through - give us more money." scam. (spot delivery)

Then they did the "delayer" when I was willing to return the car asap. (add stepmom to financing)

Then they did something very illegal and unethical: tampered with my vehicle to make it seem it would not run. And tried to act as though they were doing me a favor by putting me in some old smelly used car for the weekend while they were still holding my dad's check for the original down payment. Thus, they were going to MAKE ME TAKE WHATEVER THEY WANTED TO GIVE ME! SORRY, DIDN'T HAPPEN!

Another funny thing was, when my car would not start I kept insisting they did something to it. The salesman was like "I have just e-mailed GARY YEOMANS (The owner. If we have to we will just give you the new car. This was at the time when I kept insisting it be towed to a independent mechanic of my choice that day!

This is not a sales place. I work in sales, it does involve persuasion to meet the customer's needs and wants, but NOT FRAUD AND LIES!

I am also copying this letter and sending it to gary yeomans, ford international, and EVERY CONSUMER ADVOCACY GROUP I can find on-line.

And to think my family has done business with that dealer for YEARS! Never again... Never!
