We purchased $20.00 fuel using our debit cardat the Kroger on West Davis Drive in Conroe, Texas. We totally understand that a hold must be placed on the card to verify funds and that the account is good, but Kroger placed $125.00 hold on our account! We have never had this happen and never more than $1.00 if the funds do not hit our bank right away.
When we became aware of this excessive chargeafter we got home, husband drove back to the Kroger Fuel store to talk to the clerk. She told him this started about one month ago, and has happened to hundreds of customers. She said the $125 was a common amount to be held, and she was told it was requested by the banks. It is not just one bank, more than one local bank has been involved. She said she has been cussed out, threatened, and otherwise abused by angry customers. I want to know why this change in our local economy, and is it the banks or a new policy by Kroger?
