Lazy Days Aka Lazydays RV Super Center
Ripoff Mislead us with a false low odometer reading, Provided a useless warranty, delivered contract declaring RV had 300-D when diesel tagged 250-D

Lazydays mislead us with a false low odometer reading, provided a useless warranty, delivered contract declaring RV had 300-D when diesel tagged 250-D.

We sold our home and as a first time RV buyer, purchased a 1992 Newmar Kountry Star in May from LazyDays RV Supercenter, Seffner, Fl to become Full-Timers.

After we placed our down payment in February and returned home to Jacksonville, our saleswoman, Mary Caldwell, called about an Additional 39,000 Miles that had mysteriously been discovered on the engine. LazyDays volunteered to provide a 5-year/100,000-mile engine and transmission warranty to compensate us for the false odometer reading and save their sale. We agreed but never received a copy of the warranty before the day of closing.

We took possession in May and had a series of problems that forced us to trek back and forth to Lazydays each week and stay Mon-Fri at the RV center during the 30 day warranty period (approx 1700 miles). Several of these problems were not properly repaired and we later had to have the work done by a local mechanic — those highly praised certified techs at Lazydays couldn't or wouldn't repair our complete list. Wasted Miles and Time...

After driving only 4,000 miles since our purchase, our 300-hp diesel motor failed on route to Albuquerque on June 4. We thankfully handed over our Premium 2000 Plus warranty that Lazydays provided to Rocky Mountain Cummins engine repair facility, only to learn it was designed for a car and would not cover the towing charges ($650) or RV costs of the new or re-conditioned engine we need ($15-18,000). It was then we learned of the unreasonable limitations of the warranty.

June
Cummins techs informed us that the engine is not the 300-HP we had contracted for but only a 250-HP. There is no record of a 300-HP on any search through Cummis, CarFax, Newmar or Florida DMV on this coach. When called on this, VP of Sales, Ms Liz Adamo claims the previous owner and a mechanic friend souped-up the 250 motor to a 300hp in their garage and that is that. So far, LazyDays has not come up with any receipts for parts or record of the change.

As a professional RV dealer, can a dealer pass off a souped-up engine as one originally installed by the factory without disclosing these facts to their buyer? I think not!

July - AUGUST
In response to our letter to Don Wallace, CEO, he sent us a handwritten note oozing sympathy and assuring us that Liz Adamo would resolve all matters. Encouraged, when we again called Ms Adamo, she retorted that didn't mean matters would be resolved in our favor.

Mr. Wallace's letter dated July 23 is the only correspondence we have received directly from Lazydays despite numerous requests for copies of work orders, etc.

OUR ATTEMPTS TO RESOLVE MATTER ARE IGNORED
June Attorney General - not his jurisdiction

June 18 Better Business Bureau of Tampa Bay - useless

July 17 Fla Dept of Financial Services - Ann Barrow - useless (on first name basis with Don Wallace)

August Hillsborough Consumer Protection -
Very helpful but no power

Our emails have been blocked -
Sales team, Mary Caldwell and Ken Jacobsen cannot talk with us

SEPTEMBER - DECEMBER
Lazy Days RV Supercenter still refuses to make good on their contract.
Don Wallace, CEO will not take our phone calls.
We remain stranded at Rocky Mountain Cummins -
Those folks have been wonderful and patient.

SOLUTION SOUGHT
All we want is for Don Wallace to accept responsibility for the engine bait and switch and his choice of a useless warranty, then authorize installation of the 300D as stated on our buyers contract.

Lazydays responses

1.in answer to our complaint to the Better Business Bureau, Ms. Adamo replied that we were advised of the odometer discrepancy before we purchased the motor home.

True: However, not before we signed the contract and left a deposit.

2. Liz Adamo and Don Wallace will claim that we voided the warranty because we did not change the oil and have the coach serviced every (4) four months or 4,000 miles as called for in the warranty contract.

True: However, we were not given the opportunity to adequately review the warranty small print contract the day of closing as it was included in a maze of paperwork.

While having warranty work done in May we attended seminars including the Cummins Engine class. The Cummins representative clearly advised those attending that the oil should be changed every 6,000 miles or 12 months.

Had we been aware this was a limited automobile warranty, we would not have accepted it and walked away from the deal.

Who knew we should have not trusted Lazydays and brought an attorney to an RV closing.

3. Liz Adamo and Don Wallace will claim we would not accept the $5000 they offered.

True: However, even a rebuilt diesel engine and installation costs over $15,000 and doesn't come close to the "peace of mind" warranty we had been promised and accepted to compensate for higher mileage.
