When I arrived at DHS there were no parking spots available at Human Services parking lot. Knowing that it was only going to take me 5 minutes in DHS to hand the receptionist papers I parked in Denny's Parking Lot. I was in DHS for 5 minutes and when I returned to my car it was gone!
A gentleman approached me and said he watched the whole thing. A tow truck that was parked in a hidden spot behind Denny's immediately towed my car as soon as I walked into DHS. I called the phone number on the sign in Denny's parking lot and a lady in the parking lot answered the phone, obviously she waits and phones the tow truck driver from her car! She said, I'm sitting in the white car in the corner of the lot and you can come over and get your towing ticket. I approached the car and she handed me my ticket out the car window.
I looked at the ticket and it said $196. Later I was informed by the receptionist at DHS that normally it costs $85. I guess maybe they just pick and choose what they want to charge for towing?! And to top it off they only except cash. Wonder if the IRS is aware of this?!
Long story short, I had to borrow money to have my car back, had to take several hours off of work because they made me wait for them to arrive at Absolute to get my car back after I told them when I would be there. This company along with Denny's is definately running a scam sadly on people who are already financially struggling!
