Well all I can say is a simple paint job has turned into total
Vehicale being destoyed.
I own a beautiful Electra Park Ave, (well I did until Maaco got a
Hold of it)
In Oct. 2002 I wa struck by a drunk driver, my front end was
Basicly totaled. So being a lady with with knowledge and knowing
How to work on cars, and having a wonderful husband we put a new
Front end on the car, and we decided to take it to Macco (59
University) we recieved and estiamate for $500.00 to paint the
Whole car. I dropped it off on Aug. 25th 2003 and picked it up
On Aug 29th. It being close to 5 o'clock and my daughters
Daycare would be closing I took the car. When I got home I
Noticed part of the car was not painted. The posts between the
Doors had not been painted, they were not even preped. And
Getting a closer look at the car I noticed the orange peel on
The hood and the lovely fish eyes. Since it was a holiday weekend
I could not get a hold of the buiness until Tuesday. I talked to
(Don Mitchell) the franchise manager. I asked him is there
Part of my car that u forgot to paint? He said no. I advised him
That they forgot to paint the posts between the doors, and the
Car looked like crap, the was no shine, chunks of crap in the
Pain. He told me it would buff out. I explained to him I don't
Have the time to do it. So the manager said he would buff it
Free of charge. So I agreed to that. I took back to the shop
On Sept 26th because you have to wait 30 days before giving it a
Bath. I dropped it off at 9am because the managerwanted it all
Day, and to give a call before I came and got it, because he
Didn't want anther ass chewing. (he hadn't seen as ass chewing
Yet but it was comming) I contacted the manager at 5 pm that
Evening. That gal who answered that phone said she was glad I
Called, Don needed to talk to me about my car.By this time I'm
Thinking OMG the wrecked my car, or they did something stupid.
The manger gets on the phone and asks one hell of a question.
And that was do you remember when you picked up your car last
Time? Well it look worse, I need to repaint your car. I stayed
Calm, and he told me the paint job was crap and he was sorry.
I did however ask him if he was going to get me a rental car,
Since he was putting me out, the job should have been done right
The first time. He told me no. I then asked for the name of
There insurance company, they told me they didn't have one. And
To call (Dave Wilson) the owner of the company) 712-3315350)
Well they did repaint the car, I went and picked it up and it
Looked aweful. So I proceeded to contact Dave Wilson, k explain
The situation and he ageed to come and look at the car. He agreed
To come to town on Oct 12th and look at the car, I was home all
Day, never heard from him. Finaly that afternoon I called him and
And asked why didn't he make it. Well he lost my number and the
Info in the computers was wrong. Finally on Oct 22nd we met up.
I refused to go back to the shop, so I made him meet meet me at
My family's resturant, which was a hop skip and a jump, from the
Macco shop. He came down looked at the car, and told me they
Sligth imperfections and it could be buffed out. I kept my mouth
Shut and listened, didn't agree with him.
One example this guy has no clue what he is doing, My nephew
Pulled up in a 2004 cadilac, Dave Wilson (mr. Maaco man) tells me
His car was painted 3 times and it just came out of the factory.
Mr. Wilson also asked if my car had a pin stripe, and i told him
Yes. He told me he would put pin stripping on my car for free
And he would come to my work and do it so I could watch.
Needles to say, I tried to get several estimats on my car, and
Guess what no one will touch it, because the damage they caused
To fix it would exceed the vaule of the car.
Well I called Dave Wilson on Oct 23rd and asked for the name of
Insurance company, and the number. He refused to give it. I was
Being nice threw all of this, and trying to keep a since of
Humor about it. But when he came across as a royal jerk
I went a sweet young lady to b@#@$ in 1.5 secs because I was
getting tired of the run around. I did find out who the
Insurance company is, but they can't find the policy number.
If you are going to go to a Maaco in the Des Moines area, check
The shop out first, there is at least one good Maaco around here
It is owner operated and they good work, I learned the hard way.
But I will not go to any Maaco if you paid me a million dollars.
