On Sunday morning, May 17 I placed a bid through E-snipe on E-bay to purchase a 2010 Mercedes Benz E550. The starting price was $57,000 and the buy it now price was $58,995. My bid was $58,101. The auction ended that day at 12:38PM. At that time I was notified by E-bay and E-snipe that the auction was over and my bid did not meet the reserve.
Monday morning, I received a notice from Howard Manoff, Internet and Fleet Manager at Fletcher Jones Mercedes of Las Vegas saying "Congratulations. You are the high bidder on ebay for the pre-owned 2010 E550, stock number 8485EX, Vin#WDDHF... Your bid of $57,000 is the winning bid." Ity went on to ask how I am going to pay for the car, etc. Needless to say I was thrilled and called him. I called him briefly discussed the purchase, toild him I was at work and asked if I could call him around 4:30PM when I was off work, to discuss the details of the purchase. He replied that would be fine.
I returned home around 4:15PM and, checked my voice mail and was shocked to hear a lengthly message from Mr. Manoff telling me what a terribkle mistake he has made as the car had b een sold to someone else and they could not honor the sale to me. I tried to call Mr. Manoff but he would not answer.
I called the dealership and reached an executive, Krista Alshouse, who was very apologetic. She said the sale to the other party could not be "unwound" and offered me another car at a "special price" which was unacceptable to me.
Bottom line. I don't have the car and I feel I was royally screwed by Fletcher Jones of Las Vegas.
I have a hard copy of the e-mail telling me I won the auction as well as a recording of the voice mail let for me stating they would not honor the winning bid.
