Detroit Auto Sales Preditor Business Practices Bad Repairs

On or about 12/10 I contacted Detroit Auto Sales (DAS) regarding my 1997 Ford F-150 Pick Up Truck overheating and having a problem of after approximately 6 miles on a cold start temperature gauge moves to redline, Oil Light goes on. I then pull over shut off vehicle, loosen the radiator overflow, release the air from the overflow, tighten back up, start vehicle and then temp gauge goes back to normal and oil light goes off. I can then drive sometimes all day without problem reoccurring. Also no heat from heater sometimes. I did mention I thought it could be the head gaskets, but I am not a mechanic so that is just my opinion. I was told to leave vehicle they would trouble shoot. I was then contacted approximately 3 day s later that they would need to replace the radiator to do an adequate diagnosis of the problem. I was given the cost of $150.00 Plus misc for the cost I approved. They performed this work and told me the vehicle was all set. On 12/22/09 I was dropped off at DAS and paid the 243.50 for the work performed. I started vehicle drove 6 miles down the road and the same exact thing happened. I called DAS and informed them they said return the vehicle and they would diagnose. I drove back dropped of vehicle and they drove me home. Approx 2 weeks later I was informed it must be the head gaskets and that the cost would be approximately 5-$600.00. I then informed DAS I do not want to spend any more money on the truck unless I am certain the repairs will fix the problem. They assured me that this would fix the problem “ it has to be the head gaskets” I was told. I told them to fix the problem but I do not want to spend any money other than to fix the problem. I was then contacted approximately 20 days almost 3 weeks from my last drop off and told they found additional items that needed to be done to fix the problem correctly, I reiterated at that time I did not want to spend the money on the truck but if this would fix the problem the right way go ahead and do it. I specifically told them I didn’t want to spend the $600, now it is almost $1,000.00 but if it fixes my problem go ahead. Now after having the vehicle for over a month I was called and informed the vehicle was repaired and tested no problem all set I can pick up the truck. On 1/22 I was dropped off to pick up the truck, we spoke they informed me it was all set. I gave them my credit card they charged it and gave me my keys back. I started my struck drove 6 miles down the road and the exact same thing happened. I called DAS and was informed to come back and they would look at it. I immediately came right back, and they said I would have to leave the truck, so again they drove me home and I left the truck. I immediately called Spirit Credit Card ie Barclays Bank disputes and I was informed that because the charge did not yet show on my account I would have to wait to dispute it, I was also informed that I had time to dispute the charge. 2 weeks passed no word from DAS, so I called them and was told Steve would call me back, several more calls were made and still no diagnosis yet. Now over 2 full months with my vehicle I called and I was told they would have an answer tomorrow, Then I called again in a few days and was told tomorrow, for sure. I then waited no call so I called DAS a few days later and I was told they think it must be a whole in the block and they would do this repair for there cost approximately $600.00. I told do not do it I will get back to them. It was then I called them and told them I would pick up the vehicle this almost 3 full months that they had my truck. I picked it up 6 miles down the road same problem only this time I got my truck to my house and there it sits. It is very clear from DAS paperwork Invoice 4 they diagnose, perform work, charge my card, then with me never having my truck back they come up with invoice22 stating the exact same problem as invoice 4. I do not know how to proceed at this point I have over $1,200.00 dollars of invoices $1,320.81 to be exact and my truck is still doing the exact same thing. I have spoken to several mechanics and they all inform me that it looks to them as though the original job was not done correctly.

I stopped payment on my credit card only for the invoice which I was told fixed the problem and they charged my card before I could test the vehicle and found after they charged my card the vehicle was still not fixed. After I stopped the payment on the charge I was called by Steve and he went on to call me a thief a cheep a*, and that he knows the system and he is going to lien my vehicle then pick it up and auction it. His words were you have one chance to bring the vehicle back and I will fix it for cost. Meaning after 2 attempts at fixing the vehicle I am suppose to bring it back and spend more money for him to attempt to fix it. I told him I was out of town and would prefer to deal with this when I returned. But he then was very rude and arrogant and said I had my chance now the vehicle is his. I plead with the state please don't let this man prey on other innocent victims. My truck is now sitting in my back yard I am unable to drive it and I am fearful he will try to take it. Please be notified of this complaint and help get this predator off my back and away from my vehicle.

He has used car licenses and should not. He has repair facility licenses and should not. What are innocent citizens to do when there vehicle brakes?

I have all of the documentation for this transaction and I would be happy to email it you should you accept this case.

Thank you very much for your anticipated help in this manor.
