I purchased a 1998 Select Edition (certified inspection and extended warranty) Jaguar XJ8 in July from AC Imports in Palatine, IL. The car stalled 3 times on the expressway (each time after allegedly being fixed) and was towed from our garage twice, along with a myriad of smaller problems - total time in the shop was more that seventy (70) days with over twenty pages of garage reports in only 14 months.
Further research showed that the prior owner also had the car stall on the expressway (just before his lease was up). Jaguar Cars did nothing but provide unfullfilled promises and cursory generic responses to my many letters and phone calls. AC Imports (dealership) obviously supports Jaguar Cars while at the same time indicates that they have nothing to do with Jaguar Cars, as they are independently owned.
Attorney General did nothing; FTC sent stock info (the same as if your fridge or washer were bad) and said to seek private council. Being at our wits end and having been deceived and lied to repeatedly (we were promised a different XJ8 in a gentlemens'agreement that was ignored), we revoked acceptence of the car with Imperial Motors in Lake Bluff, IL in November (it was in their shop thirtyseven (37) days)- another expressway stall could have proven fatal.
Certified mail was used to deliver our substantial letter of intent to Jaguar Cars, Jaguar Credit and Bill Ford; another copy was hand delivered to the service manager at Imperial and another mailed to Imperial Motors. Seven months passed without a word from anyone until a call from Jaguar Credit stating that we own the balance.
We have everything documented and have accumulated a great deal of information far too much to show here. I am confident that we are not alone in being abused and mistreated by Jaguar Cars and their affiliates. Any interested parties can contact me.
