Bob Thompson - McLouth Chevy
Functionality and the meaning of it

I purchased a 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 from McLouth Chevy in Macedon, NY. The truck is awesome, but I found that 3 dash lights are out, the speedometer bulb from 0-3 (while still illuminated), the temp control for the passenger, and the upper left steering control for the radio. When I purchased this truck, I was told it was checked out through the dealerships 104 pt inspection, where "ALL ELECTRICAL LIGHTS" is a criteria for one of the checkpoints. When I discussed this with the sales manager, Bob Thompson, before he even saw the truck, he said that it was not covered, as the "functionality" of the components still work. When I brought it up to him about the inspection, he told me to check my used car warranty. Yet, this is not what my issue was with, it was with the point that the service manager, who I saw on Dec 24th, agreed with me that it should have been caught in the 104 pt inspection. My initial conversation with Bob did not end well, with him telling me to "do what you gotta do". So, I then filed a complaint with the BBB in NY and he then called me back 1 hour later. He then agreed to see the truck and make a determination at that point again. I just saw him tonight, Dec 29th, and he said that lights are not covered by the dealership, even though "ALL ELECTRICAL LIGHTS", is a inspection. Bob said the "functionality" of the speedometer is not affected, as it is still illuminated via the other lights. The temp control for the heater is a slide for the passenger and Bob says it still works, as long as it is not dark out, you can see the temp gauge. As for the steering wheel controls, he said nothing, other than the buttons still work. As for "functionality", wouldn't it have to work and be illuminated to be considered functional? I then asked him if the dome light was out, if they would fix it, he said yes. So, I asked what the difference was and he just said check my used car warranty. Bob was actually worthless and could not back up their own inspection checklist and when I told him I filed a complaint with the BBB he threw his arms up and walked away. My issue here is they certified it through themselves, then when there is issues, they are stating it only checks the "major" electrical lights... Guess he needs to find the definition of ALL. I just want it fixed, esp since lights are functional only if they are lit and in working order. This is something that they should fix, as it was not disclosed to me they did not work and they missed it the first time.
