We switched banking accounts due to some issues with our previous bank. We were told to fax the new account information to them 3-5 business days prior to the next payment due date (12/10/09) so they could pull the funds from the correct account. We faxed it on 12/4/09. The day the payment is due I get a letter in the mail dated 12/9/09 telling me that my information was received and they will pull the next payment from our new account on it's next due date of: 5/10/06!!!
Hoping this is a typing error and not that time has decided to reverse itself... I call to confirm that the correct information is in fact on file (we have had issues with information getting "lost" with them before). After suffering through 3 operators who know just who I need to speak with (one transferred me to the internet password reset department)... I finally get someone who is able to confirm the account on my file, which by the way is the NEW account.
He proceeds to tell me that since Chase doesn't have the new information in the system, the payment for that day was returned as unprocessable and we would shortly be getting a letter telling us we had a few days to pay the payment or suffer late fees. Too annoyed after spending a half hour on the phone to argue with him over why he was able to see my account information IN FRONT OF HIM even though "they don't have it in our system" - I sigh heavily.
He tells me he can do a one time payment over the phone (and is so kind as to waive the fee charged for this service) right then to cover the missing payment. I ask him 3 times if this means I will pay the December bill twice. He PROMISES me that this payment will replace the December payment. After giving him my checking account information, I ask him again about the auto debit. He assures me that the next time the company will draw funds is in January.
Well, speed up to December 15 and low and be hold THEY TOOK 2 PAYMENTS!!! The one I gave him over the phone one that apparently got re-submitted to my bank electronically. There goes the Christmas gift money for the kids, not even counting the overdrawn fees that will probably come, as I don t have the extra money to pull out of my rear end to cover the funds!
I call back, armed with dates and names and am told that the best they can do is to return the funds around 12/24. Once the month is over and I get my monthly statement, I can fax information to get back any fees that this inconvenience caused.inCONVENIENCE??? Stealing my money is just supposed to count as an INCONVENIENCE??? That money was earmarked to buy food and gifts for my kids this weekend for Christmas, but since THEY SCREWED UP I am now unable to do so. I'll just tell the kids that Santa had to wait until 12/24 to get the elves working, so don't worry about the empty food cabinets or barren tree in our house. If we wait 9 days, we will get back what is RIGHTFULLY OURS!!!
This is not the first time this company has done this to our account and I am sure it won't be the last. I want to make sure other people know what goes on with them and how they find every way possible to rip people off of their hard-earned money!!!
