This is verrrry suspicious. The gas station did this to me on 3 separate occasions and now I know I'm not the only one.
I usually use my credit card at the pump, unless it request your pin# instead of a zip code, then no. So I go inside and I swipe my credit card at the counter, entered my pin. The clerk asks what grade, I tell her premium, the top grade. She prints out a receipt and I go to pump my gas. Nothing. I replace the nozzle, remove it again, nothing. I go back inside. The clerk asks what grade, again I tell her premium, now I'm thinking it was a question of terminology (unleaded, super unleaded, etc.) then she asks for my credit card and this time my I.D.
She swipes my credit card herself behind the counter in a different machine, hands me back the card back and I.D. So, I ask her to assure me this is not a double charge. She said it wasn't. Where's the receipt, I ask. She "finds" it, "unballs" it and smooths it out and hands it over to me. This is a neighborhood station, great prices, and conveniently located, so it counts as no surprise that I ended up there again a month or so later. This time, I chose a different pump. Twice again, the same thing occurred.
Now as I'm pumping my gas and convinced this is my last time at this station — convenience or not & I get confirmation for my suspicions. Another disgruntled customer came to the pump next to me complaining the station is ripping people off, because that was his second trip back inside and they had swiped his card twice. He was getting unleaded, I was getting premium and we were at different pumps. This "oversight" was happening with different grades, and at different pumps. Not a coincidence, is it? Verrrrry suspicious and this needs to be investigated.
