We went to Archer Pontiac GMC in Katy, TX on 8/21/09 to buy a new GMC truck. I called the dealer at 4:15 pm to verify that the vehicle shown on GMC.com and on the dealers website was in stock. I gave Ryan the vin#, he confirmed that the truck was there and we set an appointment for 7:00 pm that evening for a test drive. I called enroute to let them know that we would be early and was told by Vernon that they were ready to go on the test drive.
Arrived at dealer at 6:15 pm and Vernon told me that they did not have the truck, but many others were available. I guess they thought they could lie to me and still get my business.
Explanation for this was that their website is administered by a third party and is 2 to 3 days out of date. That is why I called ahead. The round trip to this dealer for us was 160 miles. How do you stay in business selling expensive inventory if you can't keep track of that inventory?
Bottom line: if you go this dealer to look at a specific vehicle, there is no way to know if that vehicle is on hand.
