Purrfect Auto
Ripped off by purrfect auto in henderson

We come to you today with our problem with Purrfect Auto. My husband and I have been pretty much schafted by this supposivly great mechanic shop here in Henderson at 740 East Horizon Dr... My husband and I took our vehicle to this place (mainly for the convenience being that it was within walking distance of our home). The problem that we at the time of August 23 was our vans fan motor would not shut off causing the van to overheat. So therefor we took it to Purrfect Auto. Upon looking at our vehicle, the persons working at Purrfect Auto told us it would about one 8hr day to fix the problem. They also said at the time they diagnosed our van it would cost apx $450.00 for repair and parts. They diagnosed the van with thermostat and switch to the fan motor. Before that day was up, the manager at the time contacted us and told us to come down to the shop so he could show Norman and I some issues with our van. When we arrived at the shop, the gentleman pulled up the hood and showed us the A/C compressor was shooting sparks??? And told us it would cost us an additional $200.00 to replace the A/C compressor and to recharge the A/C's system. So we agreed to allow them to fix what they called out as problems with our vehicle.Us NOT being mechanics trusted what they were telling us and allowed the people at Purrfect Auto to work on our van. So at that time the gentleman told us it would be apx $650.00 plus tax. We were supposed to pick up our vehicle the next day and before the day ended the gentleman from Purrfect Auto called us and asked us to come up to there again so he could discuss another issue with our vehicle. So my husband and I went back up there. At that point initially the gentleman was going to show us another issue dealing with the motor mounts on our vehicle. So we went back up there and the guy told us himself that he had broken the motor mounts when trying to put the car in gear and stepping on the breaks at the same time to see if the car was going to overheat under a load. The gentleman told us he would give us a deal on the front motor mount for apx.$80.00.. So we allowed him to fix them. The gentleman from Purrfect Auto said he would have to keep our van an extra 2-3 days because he couldn't get to the problem right away due to a heavy workload of other vehicles in the shop waiting to be fixed. So we said "no problem, just take your time, we just want to make sure its done right and is done in a safe manor and not slopped together because we take this vehicle on long family trips and safety with our family in our vehicle is our #1 priority"... Around 1 to 2 days after the conversation with the gentleman, we get a phone call again from Purrfect Auto. I myself was happy at first thinking I was going to get my van back. But unfortunately the phone conversation wasn't something my husband and I had planned to hear. The guy from Purrfect Auto said they had shorted out the fuse box under the hood where all of the van switches and relay switches were and we needed to come down and take a look. So we went down there AGAIN. The guy lifted up the hood of our van and showed us that one of the relay switches for the fan had actually melted and burnt the box. The guy himself took fault for the short happening and said for us not to worry, that he was sorry, and he would replace the box because it was their fault. My husband and I were both pretty angry at this point considering not just one time but now two times they had messed something up on our vehicle. The guy from Purrfect Auto gave us his word and a handshake that the problem would be taken care of. We said ok, just please get this fixed because we really need our van back. He said he would have to keep our van another 2 days to fix the problem. We said ok, just please fix it and give us our van back. So 2 days come around and they still had not fixed our van. At this point my husband and I were pretty pissed. So a couple of days had passed and I myself called Purrfect Auto to ask if my vehicle was ready. I was given a response of "NO". We were told they were going to have to keep it longer due to the fact of waiting on parts for the van and etc. Of course at this point my husband and I were very angry and displeased with how us and our vehicle were being treated. Days went by and still no van fixed. Even after calling every day and asking what the problem and hold up was. Then on September 13 we get a phone call from Purrfect Auto telling us that when the shortage on the relay switch happend it burnt the computer sensors and switches and our total cost would be $1,968.54 plus tax. Well this just completely devistated us. They also told us the van would be fixed and ready for us to pick that afternoon. We had already gave Purrfect Auto $1100.00 cash before that day in hopes to get our van back in working condition. At this time metally we felt that our van was being held hostage for ransom. We told them that was a whole lot more than what they had told us and the problems occured at their shop because of their carelessness in shorting out our system when working on our vehcile. The gentleman then told us if we didn't pay the amount we would not get a working. Running vehicle back because we HAD to have these problems fixed even though Purrfect Auto was resposible for shorting out the system in the van and also caused the motor mounts to break. So the gentleman called us to come to the shop again and popped the hood and showed all the things he had replaced for free to try to get on our good side. The day we picked up our van was 3:56 pm on September 13.. Our final total was $2,076, 56... We paid the money and were happy to finally after sooooooooo long to have our vehicle back. When we got done paying our money, I got into the van and tried to crank it up. The van would not start. I called the mechanics and Manager out to our van to come and take a look at it. They popped the hood and low and behold the battery that was powering our van was not the battery that was originally in our van when we took it to the shop. We were furious at this point. The manager himself said it wasn't the original battery in the van when we first took it in and appologized and called a local parts place here in town and had a brand new battery delivered to Purrfect Auto. They put the battery in and the van started up and was running fine. Less than a week after having our van back in our possesion, the CHECK ENGINE light came on. So we took it back to Purrfect Auto and asked them what was the problem. That our check engine light had never been on before and why was it doing this since we had spent over $2000.00 fixing it. The guy told us that it was probably a sensor needed to be reset. So they reset the sensor and the check engine light didn't come back on for a while. Since then the check engine light comes on and then goes off once in a while but van seemed to be fine and also SMOG passed. On July 12 my husband and I were on our way back from the Cheyanne exit on the other side of Las Vegas coming home after giving our son a birthday party at some friends house. When we reached the Horizon Dr. Exit here in Henderson we noticed our van was running hot and the fan under the hood that Purrfect Auto replaced was not working. We did get home without the van completely over heating and did not drive it until the next morning. On July 13 my husband had called Purrfect Auto and told the Manager who was there last year when we picked up the van and explained to him what was going on. The manager told us the parts were under warrenty and we would only have to pay for labor if the part was defective. So my husband drove the van to the shop and walked back home while Purrfect Auto was trying to diagnose the problem. We get a phone call back from the manager and he said he couldn't find a problem with it and the van wasn't over heating. So we asked what could have caused that he said maybe a sticky thermostat which had been replaced before. So we went and picked the vehicle up. I myself was driving my vehicle that same afternoon and began to notice that the van was over heating. So I called the manager at Purrfect Auto the morning of July 14 and told him what was going on I was told to bring my van back in. When I showed up the manager and mechanic come out and greeted me. The mechanic was kinda rude with his words saying "how are we supposed to know how to fix your van if we don't know whats causing it to over heat because it isn't over heating in our possesion"... They also told me they let my van run for 2 hours straight blasting the A/C in the hot sun to see if it would over heat and it didn't. I then came back with the reply you all are the mechanics, I am the customer who has spent over $2000.00 on something you all were supposed to have fixed less than year ago. I want you to fix what you were supposed to have fixed because appearantly you rigged my van together and didn't fix it the way it was supposed to be fixed otherwise I wouldn't be standing here today. So they kept my van for observation and no longer than 20 minutes after leaving their shop my husband gets a phone call from the manager at Purrfect Auto. The manager said the van overheated intheir possesion after he test drove it and said they figured out what the problem was. They told us the problem was the relay fan switch in the middle of the exact same fuse box they burnt up in 2008. The manager then told us the fuse box had never been changed like they told us it would be, and that we were resposible for paying to have a new box put on. The manager showed me where he rigged the relay switch in the box to try to help the van from over heating until I could get the money to fix what they had done. The manager couldn't tell me how much the box would cost replace but did give me another estiamte of $760.00 just for 8 hours of labor to fix something their company burnt up in the first place. I argued with the guy for a minute asking him how the hell are we responsible for something they did. The guy then told me well since you guys have had your van in the shop the company has changed ownership and the new owners are no longer responsible for what happend in the past. But come to find out the new ownership took over when our van was still in Purrfect Auto's possesion last year. You would think when a company has the same name with different owner and same manager would be responsible for the same problem we had back last year that they were supposed to have fixed and didn't. They told us we had a 1 year warrenty on the parts and are now saying they do not honor because of the new owners. Can you please help us with this situation as my husband and I strongly feel NO ONE should be done like this when they are having their vehicle worked on. We as the customer should feel comfortable with our mechanics out there when problems and reoccuring problems take place that may occur or were not fixed properly. There has got to be a law the protects a customer such as my husband, myself and others out there who get shafted and ripped-off by shady mechanics. My husband and I went online to look at the different consumer complaintss on Purrfect Auto and they stretched all the way from Nevada to California. We just could not beleive our eyes. I wish we had checked out this mechanic shop before we had ever done business with them. So now here I am 13 days before I have to move back home to Georgia and my van is once again experiencing the same problems that were supposed to be fixed less than a year ago. I hope people out there who are reading this and especially those who have experienced being ripped off by "Purrfect Auto" exspose these crooks for what they are. They should not be allowed to even be in business with the way they rip people off. This is just horrible... Thanks so much for taking the time to read our complaint about this company...
