Ripoff mistreated and ripped off

I took my car to Sears Auto Center to have my breaks fixed on March 8rd 2003. My breaks had squeeked twice prior to that day, and although it wasn't an emergency situation, I decided to get it taken care of. Almost immediatley after I left Sears my breaks began sqeeking very lound and very consistant. It made more noise after they were "fixed" than before.

Approximatley two weeks later, I brought my car back to Sears, requesting they evaluate my breaks again to find out why they were making more noise. I was told that it could be break dust and to bring it in in another two weeks if I was still hearing the squeeking.

A month later, the squeeking had worsend. I brought my car back, but was told this time that the technician didn't hear any noise when he took my car out for a test drive and to return if the squeaking returned. I left furious, and very upset. I had driven it, and heard the squeaking all day.

I went back to Sears again, and was told this time that they re-surfaced and rotated my roaters, and that my break pads would be replaced again if the noise continued. At this point, I thought I had reached some resolution.

I had my car for another two weeks, and in addition to the breaks making even more noise than ever, I have started hearing a squealing even when I Didn't press on the breaks. Today, I took it back to Sears, hoping they'd stand by the warranty they gave me. I, however, was told that my breaks are sqeaking because of my car. "Subaru's are known for their squeaky breaks and their poor part recommendations." I was notified that the breaks they put on my car will squeak until I get new break pads (again). They then said that I could upgrade my break pads, but that they are "very expensive". I was also told that they don't like to tell customers this because they are "trying to sell the product."

I left Sears crying today, and immediatly called a customer service agent who told me she is filling a complaint, and that she will do her best to find some resolution. According to her, if they didn't put the recommended break pad on my car, they will fix it. I then called a Subaru dealership, and was told that they recommend ceramic pads which eliminate dust and noise. Sears put on semi-metallic pads. When I called the auto center I took my car to and asked to speak to a manager, I was hung up on.

Hopefully, I will win this little battle with Sears, but I will never return there. I would recommend anyone to buy a Subaru, but would tell them to avoid having it serviced at Sears.
