Car scam purchased off of Craig's list using Ebay VPP

I found a 2005 Nissan Maxima on Craiglist. I contacted the seller to find he was located in Madrid, Spain. He told me he was there on US Army business. His wife joined him a month ago and brought the car with her. It is time to license the car and it would be more expensive to license the car in Spain than the worth of the car.

He assured me that if we went through Ebay's Vehicle Purchase Proctection plan that if I did not like the car I would get my money back. He said all he needed was my full name and address so he could start the process.

I received and email from Ebay Motors telling me how to use Western Union to send the Ebay Motors agent the money. Then the money would go into a non-interest baring account until I approved the car. If I did not like the car I would get my money back.

When I did not get a response from the seller I continued looking into the information received from him. I googled the address to find that therewas another scam listed with the same address in Spain only with a different seller's name and type of car. It sounded like he had been reading my emails.

When I contacted Western Union the gentleman informed me that Spain is one of the largest car scamming countries out there. Buyer beware.
