I have a complaint, I know I was lied to and I feel I have been cheated
On 1/30/09 I was shopping for a car, and at O'Brien of Fort Myers Hyundai I found a low mileage 08 Elantra. Their salesman said they got this one owner car from a dealer in the Tampa area; I told the salesman I was interested but I wanted to go home and check it out on CarFax (I had pre paid CarFax for this service) the salesman (David Cossairt) said I would not find any thing negative on a CarFax report but if I wished he would do one for me there. I said OK and so he left and in a little while he returned with a Car Fax report. The report was completely clean so we negotiated a price and I bought the car.
A few days later on a hunch and after finding a rental inspection form at the botton of the glove conpartment I decided to get another CarFax report and you guessed it, it came back completely different than the one the Hyundai salesman showed me. The car I bought had been a rental and I had not paid a rental car price. CarFax informs me the average rental car of this model is worth $1,199 less than if it had been a private owner car. Also it had at least 1 open recall on it. I would like your advice on how I should proceed on this matter, I sent this information to O'Brien Automotive team 2850 Colonial Blvd. Ft. Myers Fl. 33966 on or about Mar. 13 asking for their comments... To date I have received no response. Thanks - Jack
Update this complaint was sent to the Fl. Attorney General, the News Press help line, and WINK-TV consumer reporter on 3/24/09 and still no response from anyone.
