This company called my 84 year old mother who lives with me. They said we are the car insurance company, so my mother thought she had missed a payment on her regular car insurance so she gave them information. They the took her credit card over the phone, began billing her immediately and would have billed her for for $2992.00
As soon as I found the Fed ex package with a "provisional contract" in it, I called the company. They refused to talk to me. I took off early from work the next day and sat with my mom so she could call. The person on the phone still refused to cancel the policy, saying a contract representive would call her back. Even though I was right there with her, they still refused to talk to me, and insisted I fax them the Power of Attorney decree, then they would talk to me. I did that, I called back, they still refused to talk to me, saying the POA was not on file yet. When I called this time, it was obvious that they had documented on my mother's file that the daughter was livid.
My mother's phone is on the no call list, I have no idea how they got the number, they refused to tell me. As far as I am concerned these people are theives. Taking thousands of dollars from old people is about as low as you can go.
