Alrite Auto Rental Inc is a Norfolk Car Rental company located on Virginia Beach Blvd of Norfolk, Virginia. Alrite Auto Rental has another location in Yorktown, VA per google. I used to rent cars from Alrite for some 2 years until I stopped and at this point I would not recommend them to anybody. If you are vacationing, I suggest you search for another reputable Car Rental Company. Why?
After renting cars as a customer for some time I decided I would purchase a car from Alrite Auto Rental in December. Everything seemed to be good for while, however the owner seemed really unorganized. Some payments made, he claimed to not have any record of them when I had bank records of them. What kind of customer service is this? Would you trust someone like this?
I was contacted by Alrite Auto Rental for last payment of my Oldsmobile Cutlass under lien on 2/16/09. Owner said if I did not pay in 5 days he would repossess car. The next day 2/17/09 I setup payment for remainder due on car of $600 including late fees Alrite Auto imposed on me. This amt was drafted and paid in full to Alrite Auto Rental and posted on Feb 19th to our bank account. Owner Ronald acknowledged receiving payment and promised to send me title in mail in 1-3 days. However I have not received it yet. Since moving from his location, I have called him, called him several times with no results but answer machine messages. Every time I call and reach him, he says you will get title in 1-3 days. Well 1-3 days turned into over 30 days (47 days including today April 2nd) I got tired of calling Ronald for my title. I contacted DMV to see if Alrite released lien as satisfied as details their website. DMV says not yet and that Alrite Auto had 10 days from date of full payment (2/19/09) to notify them which of course he failed to do. DMV said I could report this activity to BBB which I did.
This is a $3500 investment down the hole. Hard earned money wasted. I would not want this to happen to anybody (whether renting or buying). Do not rent or buy anything from Alrite Auto Rental. Alrite Auto has made no attempt to call me, return any of my calls made nor deliver my title as promised. They have phone numbers but you can't ever get a live person and they are avoiding our calls.
When a company promises to do something small or big, they should follow through with it. Not doing so, hurts your reputation and foremost the name you stand behind. What is more as a Rental company to up and move car locations or relocate and avoid your calls, that does it! It makes me wonder now how many other people who been charged, purchased cars from Alrite Auto Rental have had bad experiences or are chasing down the owner for the car titles!
My trust level is at negative 10 for Alrite Auto Rental of Norfolk, VA.
If you want a reliable and most of all trustworthy car rental or car dealer, then do not use Alrite Auto Rental. Save yourself a lot of time, money. They are scammers and I feel they ripped me off by charging my account, moving locations and not delivering me my car title. All I want is my title I worked so hard for!
