I was contacted by Alrite Auto Rental for last payment of my oldsmobile cutlass under lien on 2/16/09. Owner said if I did not pay in 5 days he would repossess car. The next day 2/17/09 I setup payment for remainder due on car of $600 including late fees Alrite Auto imposed on me. This amt was drafted and paid in full to Alrite Auto Rental and posted on Feb 19th to our bank account. Owner Ronald acknowledged receiving payment over phone and promised to send me title in mail in 1-3 days. However I have not received it yet. I have called him, called him several times with no results but answer machine messages. Again owner said I would get title in 1-3 days. Well 1-3 days turned into over 30 days (46 days including today April 1st) I am tired of calling Ronald (Alrite Auto Rental) for my title. I contacted DMV to see if Alrite released lien as satisfied, DMV says not yet and that Alrite Auto had 10 days from date of full payment (2/19/09) to notify them which he failed to do. DMV said I could report this to BBB. I discovered that owner Ronald of Alrite Auto Rental moved his auto location. Seems like he skated off. According to "google" he has another location in Yorktown/Grafton, VA.
Alrite Auto has made no attempt to call me, return any of my calls made nor deliver my title. They have phone numbers but you can't get a live person and they are avoiding our calls. I want all to know what a scam this is in my opinion. I would never recommend anyone to BUY or RENT a car from Alrite Auto Rental. I wonder how many other honest hearted consumers have fallen into this trap and are chasing Alrite Auto Rental for their car titles. This is a $3500 investment down the hole. Hard earned money wasted. I would not want this to happen to anybody (whether renting or buying).
All of my calls to Alrite Auto are documented along with dates. All I want is my title and I want it NOW. If I don't receive I will consult an attorney to go after Ronald of Alrite Auto.
