Buyer Beware - Sneaky "Handling Charges"

Beware of outrageous Handling Fees! I ordered a $27 tail light and paid for standard shipping (overland 5-7 days) When I got the printed invoice, I noticed there was a "HANDLING FEE" of over $10! I can see now how they guarantee the lowest possible price. They could charge one buck on an item and make up the rest. It's the auto parts equivelant of those 2 for one deals like you see on TV - Yeah get the second one free -Plus additional handling.

But wait, it gets even better. The tail light came and it was for the wrong side. The number on my invoice was for the side they shipped, so shame on me for not checking. So like an idiot I go back to them and order the other side. This time, I'm in fear of getting a citation for the broken light, so I pay the extra $10 for 2 day delivery.

Now as an extra side note here, when you submit your information and close the deal on-line, a LOUD OBNOXIOUS pop-up screams at you offering you a coupon for your next visit. The first time I ordered, my speakers were turned down and I had to click "back" to get a look at the final invoice to print. This time I was not so lucky and when the LOUD OBNOXIOUS coupon deal popped up, I instictively closed the page.

Well, try as I might, I could not find anyway to re-print my invoice. Finally the next day, I get in my email the invoice. Lo and behold, my surprise when I found out that along with the extra charge for 2 Day shipping the "handling" fee was increased to over $38!!! Thats almost 150% of the part!!! Incredible... Well I learned my lesson. My only recourse was to register with usacomplaints.com and post this. I know that contacting them is totally futile for the following reasons:

1. I sent an email asking for the reason behind such an obscene handling fee to everyplace I could find on their website.
2. The only response I got back was two days later, telling me to contact their 1-800 number
3. While they did not do anything illegal, the fact that the handling fee doesn't appear until the last step in check-out is still a "Buyer Beware" I just couldn't realize in a million years they would soak me as bad as they did.
4. I could call and argue the point, but I suspect that the stories I've seen here are probably true. If they switch name
