Deceptive consumer rip-off fraud business from hell

My wife and I purchased a 1995 GMC Safari van from a used car lot. We were told that a 24000 mile warranty from Wynns was built in to the price of the van. Since the previous owner had left the maintainance records with the van (and it was very well cared for) and the van had 85000 miles on it, we thought this would be a heck of a good deal. WRONG!!!

The water pump, a warranty covered part, went out and we took it to our mechanic to be repaired. He said that it would be no problem to take care of for us since most warranty companies pay immediately on legitamate claims. Little did we know that we were dealing with a scumbag outfit!

The first problem arose when our mechanic tried to figure out how to submit a claim. The morons at Wynns gave him the run-around. Next, when I tried to call them to see if I could sign the warranty paperwork for my wife (the van and warranty is in her name) I got the run around! In the meantime, our mechanic was arguing over the price of the water pump. Wynns wanted to put a rebuilt pump on andour mechanic wanted to put a new pump in since the rebuilt ones only carry a 90 day warranty on them and are not reliable. Our mechanic, God bless him, put a new pump in for the used price as he didn't want to put us through this same process in a couple of months.

I talked to 4 different people about me signing the paperwork. The last one was a real winner! This stupid poor excuse of a person could barely speak English and purposely misunderstood everything I asked! First she told me there was no record of the warranty contract. When I would spell my last name (S_C_H_M_I_T_T), she would spell it S_M_I_T_H!!! Then, after I gave her the repair authorization number, she acknowledged the fact that there was a contract but couldn't help me with my question. I asked to speak to her manager and guess what I was told! The manager was not available. Having been in management myself, I promptly told her she was lying to me and I wanted to speak to him now.

Well she went back to not being able to understand what I wanted. I said to her, "Transfer me to somebody, anybody! Pick an extension and transfer me there because you are not helping me one damned bit!!!" Once again, she pulled the I-don't-understand-you routine on me! Finally she told me that the warranty company was not meant to deal with car owners only the lein holders! Who ever heard of such a thing! I hung up on her after 15 minutes of this because what is the use in beating a dead horse!

My wife, who had to leave her important healthcare management job early, went to the auto shop to sign the papers. When she called to see how long it would take for Wynns to pay up, she was told that it had to be approved first. When she asked why since Wynns already authorized the repair, the same old double talk resumed: The payment center has to approve the payment... You have to wait your turn... I can't tell you how long it will be... The paymeny center does not take phone calls... Etc.

My wife asked for the manager. He was unavailible. My wife asked for his name. The person at Wynns spelled The manager's last name differently each time my wife asked the spelling. My wife requested Frank Saenz, the so-called manager, telephone extension. The Wynns rep said that Mr. Manager did not have one. When my wife questioned ths, Wynns hung up! My wife called 2 more times and was told that the manager was out of the building or that he was on another line. The more she pushed for a manager, the nastier they got before they hung up!

Since I have read all of the complaints on this web site, I am confident that Wynns will not pay a single dime in this claim. We have never been treated more rudely by a customer service department! I have decided to pay the rest of the bill myself and never ever submit another claim or ever use their products. What ticks me off the most is that I had no choice in purchasing ths warranty. This is because it was Financed through Credit Acceptance. I firmly believe that Credit Acceptance and Wynns are out to defraud anyone they come into contact. I will also never buy another vehicle from the lot that this van came from.

One more thing... I would like to commend our mechanic. We deal with Car-X in Alton, Illinois. Kevin, the manager there, has always treated us well by providing fast, quality work at a fair price. I strongly reccomend him to anyone in the Alton Illinois area.
