Unsafe cars at double the price

Approx. Four months ago I decided to visit bangor car care to purchase a new to me used vehicle. My truck was outdated and unsafe. It would never pass inspection again.

I decided to purchase a 2000 pontiac grand am. Within 48 hours I started having trouble with my car. It was not shifting from 2 to 3rd gear without winding out and jerking and the car would barely run.

On the way home the car had an unbelievable shake in the front end and when stopping.

I scheduled an appt. Immediately upon returning home. 1 week to the day I was at their garage getting my car fixed. They had no clue I was coming for some reason and wanted me to come back later. Imagine that.

The car would barely run it was spitting and sputtering. I got the car back running normally, but the transmission they said nothing was wrong with it.

Exactly two weeks to the day I was back at the lot. A fuel cable had popped off the previous night. It was jammed between some hoses causing the car to accelerate and not stop. I was traveling down a back road that was curvy holding the brakes and going around curves at 60 mph plus with four children in the vehicle.

I went straight to the sales office complaining that the car was completely unsafe for anyone to have. I told them I wanted a different car and wanted to give that one back. I'd had enough.

I was informed I could not trade the car for a different one but they would make my car safe. I went to the garage. Supposedly they put new struts on the car and fixed the problem with the cable.

Yet again two weeks later, the car wouldn't start. The spitting and sputtering before was apparently caused by a clogged fuel filter. It was not properly taken care of so my fuel pump decided to go.

When I called they said it was not their problem anymore. I had the car six weeks and would have to go through the warranty company. (they do not cover fuel pumps)

The alignment of the car was so severly off that withing two months of the having the car the set of perfectly good tires on it were not good anymore. I went to the VIP in waterville. They were great.

I told the mechanic what had been going on in the two months that I had had the car. They inspected the car for me for free. It almost passed, but I had a bigger issue. Remember the new struts I told you about? They were used and came off of a green malibu. The mechanic came out holding the tag.

I have only had this car a short period of time and have almost put 1000 dollars in it and the fuel cable still pops off regularly. Buyers beware do not go to bangor car care. Unless you want to pay 7000 for a 1000 dollar car with lots of repair bills.
