I purchased a 2006 Hyundai Accent from a dealership and due to my poor credit CPS was the finance company. I made my payments on time every month and then got laid off my job, due to our wonderful economy. I sent them a letter informing them to come and get the car as I could no longer pay for it.
On top of that, the balance still owing on this car is over $11,000 and you can get a new Accent for $9000. They called several times a day, which by the way was a computerized call. I talked with an individual and she said that whatever they didn't get paid I would have to pay or my wages would be garnished. I told her that I sent them a letter informing them that I was laid off. She asked about unemployment. I told her to try and live off of what I get on unemployment. They called some of the people that I used as references and actually told them that I defaulted on the loan. I don't believe that they should have said anything to that affect and consider that an invasion of my privacy. They have not yet come and got the car.in my letter I also informed them that it was no longer insured and that I would not be responsible for anything regarding the car as of the date of the letter. If at all possible, NO ONE should go thru them.
