In October I took a loan out through Consumer Portfolio for $12,000.00 for a (used but in good condition) Ford focus valued $10,000.00. Thirty-five payments of $365.00 were payed to Consumer Portfolio (some more/some less) including some late fees an additional intrest. I have payed $12,000.00. I have not heard from Consumer portfolio since late October. I called and explained that I was laid off my job and that I am job hunting and taking care of my mother in her last days. (she had cancer and was going down fast.) A man with a country accent named Jack spoke to me and told me if I could not hold a job I do not need a car and that he wanted to come and get it. I got some unemployment and made a payment.in mid November 0f 2008 my mom passed. During the funeral Jack harrassed me numerous times on my cell phone demanding car payments. I had to turn my phone off because he upset me saying that it was not his fault I am at a funeral and asked me for the address of the grave yard so he could come and pick up the Ford Focus. I tried to talk to him asking him to give me a couple days to call him back that I was going through a hard time. He was just very mean. I never heard from him anymore. A couple weeks later I found a job and i was trying to re-establish my credit so I could work for the state. I had a six month set back because my ex-boyfriend wrecked my car. My insurance deductable was $2500.00 to repair it. It took me from July to December to work for the money and put the car back on the road. I also had to pay MVA $800.00 for lapse insurance do to being laid off. My tags and registration expired too. After working so hard to bring all that concurrent and legal to put on the road I then got contracted out to work for the federal government at $17.00 an hour. I worked so hard to try to get ahead and now my car has been repoed by Consumer Portfolio three days ago because they say I owe an additional $7000.00. They came and took the car during the night with no notification. Baltimore County Police Department was given a false phone number to contact Consumer Portfolio. I had to go on line to locate the vehicle. When i talked to the repo recovery i was told I had to wait twenty-four hours to verify a re-instatement plan. Twenty-four hours later a woman named Kristian said that for me to be reinstated I needed six references, paystubs, and $7000.00 dollars by May 27 to recover the vehicle or it goes for auction. I tried to work out a deal to pay the money owed inpayments they say they do not refinance. I am so upset that nothing can be worked out. I worked so hard to get ahead. I am alone. I am my one and only income. I told Consumer Portfolio that but they said there is nothing they can do. So they got a car and $12,000.00 or more. Can anyone help me.
