My mother-in law went to AAmco and complained about her 92 ford ranger would not go into 5th gear (manual trans). 2 days later she gets a call from victor that the 5th gear needs to be replaced. This would be $500.00.
She says go head they needs to get home to newport OR. 1 1/2 days later there is a call saying that the whole trans needs to be overhauled and would cost 1205.00. And this where i get involved i call up to speek to shop manager stacy says i am a gm for 11 stores and i can help you.
I tell her that this in not right fix 5th gear and she says that she will take care of all except the clutch and the 5th gear. That is what happened my parents went on there way about half way my mother saw that the temp was way hot and turned the a/c on and it cooled down. From the shop they smelled burning fluid and it was hard to get into gears.
She took the veh back to victor and he told here that is normailand she will have no problems.
She gets back home and the trans gets worse i call stacy and tell them what is going on and they tell me i need to get it to a AAmco to have it checked. This trnas is bad and needs to be towed so they pay for a tow to the nearest AAmco which is a 100 mi away, so they did.
Now i am calling AAmco (they are not calling me so i have to keep in touch) they put 90w fluid in the trans when it needs ATF (automatic trans fluid) i called for a full refund and victor told me that puting 90w
in the trans that is a honest mistake and the warrinty will take care of that.
