We were in the market for a new car. We have a 1999 Ford Expedition (Eddie Bauer), fully loaded and very, very, clean. We just had it appraised for 14,000 dollars. Passport told us over the phone they would offer us the best price for our trade. We were quoted a price of 200 dollars over invoice cost, ($18,200), for a new Suzuki Verona.
When we got there, they evaluated our trade, and offered us 6,000 dollars, (10,000) dollars below the average clean selling price of the vehicle!!! (wholesale for the Expedition is 12K) And then told us, with our trade they would have to sell the new Suzuki at list price.
Only offering us barely "salvage" value for our Expedition, and then saying they would have to sell the Verona to us at list price, made us just leave. The salesman didn't have much to say, but that he was sorry. He offered me his card and a handshake, and I took neither... THIS WAS A TEXTBOOK BAIT AND SWITCH TACTIC used by PASSPORT SUZUKI.
To top it off, we got a call just now (one week after our visit to their dealership), and the salesman stated he would like to sell us a new vehicle. Well, it was time to let them have it. I know dealers follow up, but not only will we never go there again, we will tell all of our friends not to bother to go there, unless they want the "worst" deal possible! We just told the sales manager there was no way that we wanted to be "screwed" by them or anyone else!
I would like to report them to Suzuki, but I am tired of the whole ordeal. After reading that they have sold a vehicle with major previous accident damage to an unsuspecting victim, Suzuki needs to step in, and see what the problem is!!!
