Carl Black Body Shop
Lie, cheat, bad quality, took FOREVER, didn't acknowledge their mistakes

This all takes place around a day less than a year of me buying my SUV BRAND NEW. I am involved in a hit and run accident so my uninsured motorist pays for the accident.

The truck is dropped off to Carl Black a day after the accident. It sits there for TWO MONTHS and collected nails in the towing yard causing two flats as it sat there for so long... Not only did they make ME pay for the new tires, they DROVE THE TRUCK ON FLATS AND BROKEN MOTOR MOUNT (I'll explain later).

They promise me Friday it will be done (this is on a Monday) and I say ok... I call Friday and they say they haven't even started on it and I ask WTF?!

Eventually after SEVERAL phone calls and returned phone calls with lies and over two MONTHS later I get my truck back and its HORRIBLE.

The truck is pearl white and I have done paint for a few years now in my spare time and noticed the cheap thin paint... It had NOT been primed down, instead painted right over the flat black color the hood was ordered in... No sanding or smoothing ANYTHING... The paint is supposed to be a 3 stage paint and they used a ONE stage paint and clear coat... I asked when I picked it up why can I see lines in the paint and he said you can almost never get a metallic car right and then I asked... Come here and I took the guy around to the back of the truck and I asked... Did you paint this too? He said no we just blended it... I said ok... Do you see paint lines here? He replied no... I then replied I want the front RE painted bc if the factory can get it right why can't you?

Not only that as I stated earlier I have done paint work and copious amounts of body work and the tolerances were WAYYY off. To get the grille in they GLUED IT... To get the headlights to line up they cut the tabs that line them up with the grille OFF so they would bolt down...

After all that I opened the hood and there was still coolant and oil all over the engine from the accident and I asked them to steam that clean (and that it should have been done before I got there).

There is oil/grease ALL OVER my LEATHER interior... I had a soda in my hand as well at the time of the impact and it was still all over the dash and had been there for obviously 2 months I asked them to remove that... They did... My driver seat was loose and broken... They did not replace that

The protective plastic coating on my aluminum rims was scratched off where they drove the truck on flats and mounted the tires.

Not only that the sides of the fenders where it meets the hood was WAYYYYYY off and almost 1/2 to 1 inch gaps on the side and he claimed those you will never get right again and I said really? Bc its had a right fender replaced at the dealer and they seemed to get it perfect... There was also a bump in the metal and had been painted over on the passenger fender and he claimed he didn't do that and I asked them WHO DID?

The body shop went through a change of management while my truck was with them and in my opinion both management companies are SHIT!

My truck STILL vibrates going down the road with an alignment I PAID FOR at a separate dealer to get done after Carl Black said it had been done 2 times... They lied it was WAYY off... The brake rotors I had to get turned as when I slammed on the brakes it warped the rotors... And BRAND new tires from the dealer ($700) and it still shutters...

After all this I take the bumper off in my shop and uncover that they lined my fenders up with WASHERS! My grille was GLUED ON, the impact foam/bubble was NOT present, they used WOOD/DRYWALL screws to hold my bumper up and they drilled through the metal to use those... Hence no screws in the front of the bumper to hold it on... Wires to the headlights... Fog lights and senors on the front are dangling with NO ties to hold them...

Once I got UNDERNEATH the truck I found out that there was no skid plate under the engine... Exposing the oil pan (NOT good for an SUV) the push pins to hold the wheel well plastic covers were not there leaving them loose and potentially getting ripped off it caught in the wheel while driving... The driveshaft I am told has to be balanced and there was no sign of being balanced... The exhaust was warped badly causing the heat shield to grind against the oil and transmission pan... The hangars were broken...

All of these things I noticed over a period of a couple weeks and FIVE return trips to them...! So in all it took 2 1/2 months to get my vehicle repaired and I got the run around from the body shop and my adjuster until I called upon corporate at my insurance company and send a formal complaint up.

Now... A few months after the accident the paint on the front bumper is cracking (this is how I know they did NOT mix a rubber additive to allow it to flex without cracking and that they didn't sand it down before painting...

As I continued to look at the truck I noticed SEVERAL flaws in the paint along the doors and the hood and where they blended the paint on the A pillars they didn't buff that out leaving it dull and there is a spot on the hood that was dull that I made them buff to a shine... (keep in mind this was a BRAND NEW suv that I garage kept and hardly EVER got dirty)

I nor any of my friends of family will NEVER go here again... It has been 6 months of pure hell and I paid the PREMIUM price for Progressive bc of their concierge service which was a TOTAL JOKE!
