Complaint / Review
General Motors Corporation
Ripoff, poor workmanship, faulty paint, $50,000.00

In December of I purchased a 2003 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD. I paid over $50,000.00 for the truck.in December I noticed there was a problem with the paint on the truck, it was flaking and cracking over the whole truck. I took the truck to a body shop for an explanation and was informed the paint was checking and would only get worse. Apparently it is caused from the paint being applied to thick.

I then went to the authorized GM body shop, they took pictures, wrote all the info down and gave me the same explanation as to why the paint was falling off of a $50,000. Truck that just turned three years old. They told me it was doubtfull GM would cover it as the truck was over it's warrenty period and GM does not cover cosmetic defects.

I explained that the problem didn't just happen it happened when the truck was painted. The service advisor agreed but remained confident GM would not cover it. I even offered to pay for half the cost of repainting the truck. The service advisor even told me that in the past couple of months they had three other trucks come in with the same problem?

A week later I contacted the body shop to inquire about my truck and was informed GM would not cover it. They did give me the 800 number to GM Corporate and said call them. So I did. After several calls between GM corporate and the local dealer, GM called and informed me that because the truck was in a high ULTRA-VIOLET RAY area and it was over the mileage warranty by 10,000 miles they would not do anything about the paint.

I again explained that the problem originated at the factory and had nothing to do with Ultra Violet Rays or miles driven! Sorry Charlie, we can't help you? GM has always had a problem with the paint on their vehicles.

I am going to take a large ad out in the local paper, add color pictures and copy of invoice and inform everyone that owns or is planning on buying a GM to BEWARE
