I recently purchased a 98 altima from atlantic auto mall. When test driving the car, the service light was on, the right side mirror was "jammed" (from sitting in the cold in the parking lot, according to the salesperson) and the car had a shake to it. The salesperson reassurred me everything was fine. The computer knows when a car needs to be serviced and that is why they add the inspection fee to the car total because they check the car.
However, when the car was finally in my hands, I began to experience the same problems and even more. The passenger side visor fell out when I braked one night on my friends lap a week and a half later. Talk about safety. The service light appeared AGAIN and the car was continually shaking, this time even MORE. The muffler began to make noise and the rear view mirror that was "jammed" was really broken and I would have to have a friend move it for me when I needed to.
I know this is a used car but this is suppose to be like "new" from a dealer. Why do I have to pay for something when it wasn't even in my hands for two months? I brought the car back a month and a half later because I couldn't take the problems anymore. I told them everything that was wrong and they said they will try to do what they can but they cannot gaurantee I will pay nothing.
They called me up a day later and claimed that the service light went on because there was a leak somewhere in the engine and that they "happened" to come across another problem with wearing and tearing. The leak was covered by the warranty but the wearing and tearing is maintenance and will cost me $112. A new visor would cost me $80. I JUST BOUGHT THE CAR AND I HAVE TO PAY FOR SOMETHING IN LESS THAN TWO MONTHS?!?!? I pay $300 a month for the loan which I could have gotten a new car with. I go to college in Queens and will be graduating this semester and I DEPENDED on that car.
All I know is I am not paying for this so they better be aware that their name will be everywhere when I am done with them.
