Ripoff and damage

I have a complaint about the service at Aamco at 7458 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45236. On February 11 I took my car in to get new brakes. Since they were going to have to order parts I picked up my car and returned the next day.

The technician drove me to my work in my car instead of using one of their own knowing how bad my brakes were. He said that he stopped at a gas station and the car would not start. This really surprised me because I had not had any trouble starting my car. They told me they had to tow my car to their shop. I was not asked if it was what I wanted. I immediately had suspicions about what was going on and left a message with their customer relations department with concerns. That Friday Gregory (customer relations) called me back and I told him what had happened and that I had not heard back from them about my car. This had been 4 days at this point.

On Monday 2/18 the shop manager called me and said they could not figure out why my car would not start (how can they be advertising complete car care) and that nothing had been done to my brakes yet either. He said that they would have to tow my car to another shop for diagnostics and that would be another $125 bill on top of the $500 he said I owed his shop (for work that had not been done?). I told them it was ok to send my car to the other shop and waited to hear the results.

Another 4 days later (Thursday) I still had not heard from them so I called to see what was going on. At this point I was aggravated at their lack of interest in fixing my car although they kept wanting to add charges for work that had not yet been done and the fact that no one took responsibility to contact me to keep me updated.

At that point, the manager blamed the other shop for not calling him instead of making the call himself. So he got on the phone and called them. He must have laid the phone down that I was on since I could hear him talking o the other guy. I heard him tell them to go ahead and do it without even asking me if I wanted them to. He then got back on the phone with me and told me what they had said was wrong and that it would be another $320 on top of the other charges. $940 at this point!!! And still nothing had been done to my car yet! This is almost 2 weeks after I took my car in just for brakes!

At that point I was absolutely positive I was being scammed. I told him not to have them do the work and that I needed to call someone else. He told me he would still have to get my car back to his lot from the other shop. I then called another shop to tow my car (this is the 4th time it had to be towed).in the meantime I had to pay Aamco $129.93 for towing and labor just to get my car back even though it was not on his lot yet. I also checked out my car after it was back at their lot and saw the damage they had done to it.

My brand new bumper was all scratched up all the way across. The paint under the front edge of the hood had been torn off and was missing on the top of the hood as well and I later saw that the prop rod clip was also broken. There was no reason for any of this to have been done to my car. I also had to pay the last shop (that actually fixed my car) for services that were created by Aamco. This includes a $90 towing bill, another oil change $23.70 (I had just gotten one a month before) because there was gas in the oil from where Aamco was trying to start my car. Rewiring my spark plug wires $79, which was why my car would not start! I will also now have to pay for the damage they did to my car. I am in the process of getting estimates.

The way I see it Aamco not only owes me for the extra expenses they created, they should also give me the money back that I paid them to get my car. They did nothing to fix my car.
